Shabbat at [livejournal.com profile] moss_raven's was amazing, and she's like the nicest person ever.

Adventures in DC )
I was exhausted when I got home and eventually took [livejournal.com profile] maric23's advice and napped, but woke up not so refreshed. But then I got out of my apartment and did some thesising. And then I had Sunday Night Learning.

Afterwards I had mashing, which was supposed to be over by 10. I was there until 10:30, headed upstairs, realized they had left a meat cart in the dining hall, and had to drag it downstairs (there's an elevator, but even getting it on and off that was tricky, and cups fell and I had to keep on putting them back on the cart.) I was thoroughly annoyed. The new dining hall staff haven't gotten used to their jobs, so they aren't as efficient as the people last year were. And a lot of the good people from last year left to find a better job. They don't get paid enough and aren't part of the union (unlike the workers in the other dining halls). And they have a harder job, since they have to deal with kashrut laws. And they work longer hours. They have no retirement plan. And then we lose our good people, and it takes a long time to train someone new. Unfortunately, it's Aramark who controls this stuff and not Hillel, so it's not like I can just walk into the office and say "you need to pay our dining hall workers more." I wish I could do that.

Today I woke up at 7:15 7:30 to go gymming with [livejournal.com profile] honkyredvan. She showed me how to do different exercises with weights for my arms and legs and abs. I went easy, since I don't know how sore I'll be tomorrow. Right now I feel fine.

So hopefully on Mondays and Wednesdays from now on I'll be able to do this, and then maybe Tuesday and Thursday nights I can use the elliptical. I wasn't going to elliptical today since that would be pushing myself too hard, but I might go tonight if E-hobbit is up to it.

And now I'm going to shower, get dressed, grab my books, and head out for great thesising and beyond!

We were bug checking lettuce and [livejournal.com profile] levana_b took a sieve and drained some lettuce.
Me: Look! A salad!
[livejournal.com profile] levana_b:Which you don't make friends with.
Me: You don't make friends with salad...
[livejournal.com profile] levana_b: For the entirety of last year I thought that meant that it was the salad that you weren't supposed to be friends with.
Me: *smacks her forehead, metaphorically speaking*

I was really tempted to catapult some lettuce at her, but I didn't.

Ben was at lunch today, which was unexpected and random, but it gave me an opportunity to talk to him about the thesis. I'm mentally going off into a billion tangents, and it's very ahrd to stay focused. So Ben wants me to write 500 words a day instead of working an hour a day, which may be easier or harder depending. Does LJ count towards the 500 words?

And I've been having trouble getting to work in the first place. It's so easy for me to just procrastinate. If I wrote things by hand then there'd be less likelihood of me going online.

But after I update this I'll go back to reading/writing about Neusner. Maybe I can finish his book tonight. (it's only 130 pages, which is very doable.) And then I'll do the write-up and you all can be proud of me. Even you, [livejournal.com profile] maric23.

Then I need to do the readings for Communities. I did the online one, but I need to read many pages of this book which talks about theoretical stuff which is really not interesting (though the class itself rocks!)

And [livejournal.com profile] moss_raven I owe you an e-mail, so I'll do that now.

I just wrote 778 words in the beginning of my Neusner write-up, and this is only chapter 1. Though I'm on page 32 of 130, so it's like 1/4 of the book. So the whole book might have a 3000 word write up, or 7-8 pages single spaced, 14-16 double spaced. Wow, that's a lot of writing. Ben was right about the whole words adding up thing.

So I win! I wrote more than the 500 words Ben required, and more than the 600 words that [livejournal.com profile] maric23 told me to write. Despite your bad influence, I prevailed! Maybe [livejournal.com profile] levana_b will be up for ice cream when she's no longer fleishig in the next 20-50 minutes...

*edit* And I even made the google spreadsheet for SJitW registration. And someone besides our lovely [livejournal.com profile] alanscottevil is Car Czar. Though you deserve a break from reigning. I hope you aren't permanently abdicating your comfy throne...

(We hippies are so weird!)

Current Buffy Status: 18.6% of season 1 downloaded. No chance of me watching any of it tonight.
