Whee! I got an A- in Shaye Cohen's Jewish History class. Now all I need is the Machinist grade. Sooner or later someone has to ask him. And now apparently I need to make an appointment with him anyways, so I suppose I can ask him then. Though as I have said many times, I'm perfectly happy in my blissful ignorance of that grade. If only it could stay that way when I graduate...

In other news:

I have permission to write my 5-81 page ritualization paper on Dungeons and Dragons. I'm very excited about this, and I want to start writing it now, though I have things that are due sooner that I must work on first. But yay for amazingness! I think this will be the best paper, ever, and you can all read it when I'm done assuming I don't have anything in there that either the rest of my party or the Saturday campaign shouldn't know. If you're one of those people, you can read it after the campaign is over. (Actually, come to think of it, I'm sure that there will be things in there that those people shouldn't know while the game is still going. Things that would result in my getting hacked into tiny bits by my party. Though killing your healer is generally a Bad Idea.)

1They don't specify font size, margin size, or spacing amount. Therefore, I can tweak things a bit and write a 10-16 page paper. Hopefully it won't come to 16 pages, but I can see myself easily filling 10 "normal" (i.e. 12-point, double spaced, 1-inch margin) pages.

Numbers

Today I met with Prof. Branham to discuss my paper topic (which she really likes) and the portfolio of response papers I handed in (She liked those, too, though she wants me to go more in-depth in the future, which I shall). So when I looked at it when I got home, there was a grade. An 88. Not bad at all.

Is it sad that I was really happy to get a grade with numbers in it? Beyond my Shaye Cohen mindterm this is the first Divinity School grade I've gotten with a number in it. Actually, come to think of it, besides that midterm I hadn't gotten any number grades since my Communities class first semester senior year, where I think there were numbers for the assignments.

Moral of the story: I like numbers. Such as pi. Happy pi day!

Grades?

It is February 5th. It's been almost 2 weeks since I finished my exams. Why don't I have my grades for History and Historiography and Jewish History? In terms of Jewish history, all that's left is the exam, which Prof. Cohen said he was going to look at that day when he gave me my paper back (last Tuesday I think it was). It's been a week since then! Come on, give me a grade already!

(Meanwhile, I got an A on the paper of Neusner being wrongness. The moral of the story is when in doubt, dis Nesuner.)

Okay. Maybe I'm actually apprehensive about History and Historiography. But I might as well just get the finding out over with. I'm seeing Dr. Machinist tomorrow about my study card anyways. I can just imagine the conversation going like this:

R: Hello Dr. M, here's my study card [gives him the study card]
Dr. M.: [looks over study card] Rachel, I don't think you should be taking any classes this semester. I can't believe you handed in such a[n] horrible final. You should be kicked out of Div School. How did you get in? How did you graduate from Penn?
R: [hangs head in shame]

It won't actually happen like that, since he's nice, but I still am afraid that my final gave him reason to think I'm an idiot. 4.5 hours, and it wasn't enough for me to write something good. I hope I never have a final that hard again.
