I suppose some explanation is in order. That's Matt, singing "I Feel Pretty" during rehearsal on Monday night. [livejournal.com profile] groovin_reuven took it with my camera. And we were all very amused. There's not much more to it.

Come see the show!!

Oh dear God, please let me survive the show.

Sunday was load-in. I did not get any of my own work done, despite having tons of downtime. So much downtime that I wasn't needed at all past 4:00, but I didn't know that until we gave up at 11:00pm or whenever we gave up running through the show. And by running through I mean doing lighting, since we still have not had a dress rehearsal yet. We only get one. Tomorrow. Yeah, the day before the show.

some photos )

That second one is actually going to be my bio photo. And that's a neanderthal skull casting (ie, made out of epoxy and not bone) that Janet Monge has loaned me. I keep it in my living room, since I don't want it to get stolen.

I'm frazzled. I'm so behind on this thesis. Though today I found one useful thing. That's it. I even forgot my socks in Houston Hall and didn't realize until I walked outside. At that point I was just like "screw it." They're socks. I doubt anyone will steal them from our auditorium.

And now I'm sending [livejournal.com profile] platypuses pictures. Whee! No sleep for me.

Ben wanted me to add stuff to the plan of study. So I did. I sent him the last paragraph (which was all that I had changed) and asked him if it was ok. He said it was fine. So I printed it off and sent it in.

Today I remembered that it had to be no more than 250 words in length, and pre-Ben-edits it had been 234 words. So I was afraid I might have gone over by a word or 2, but it was too late, since I had sent it.

I just checked. It's exacty 250 words long.

So now my application is sent in to Harvard.

So I'm celebrating.

By having a date.

With my Bronze Age book.

But I get the next 2 weeks off from meetings, since Ben will be in Mexico. He comes back in time for my play, which he'll be going to if he has no conflicts. I hope he's free. Cause it's the one and only performance I've ever had in my college career. You should come, too. (Though one of the plays contains mature content. No nudity, though.) Feb 14th, 15th, and 17th, times TBA. I'll be posting a real ad for it here at some point...

I just got back from the cast party, which was at [livejournal.com profile] groovin_reuven's apartment [by the way thank you so much for hosting.] I'm guessing there were about 30 people there, and since his apartment was small people were sitting on the floors, and the music wasn't so loud and there wasn't dancing, so it was quite a laid back cast party. And there was tons of pizza for everyone, warmed up in the oven.

I was on time for davening this morning. Not just on time, but EARLY. I got there before 9:00am, there were like 3 guys around. So I sat through all of shacharit. Well except for getting up a billion times to drink water because I was dehydrated.

Last night, I had the most awful dream. I woke up from it at 7:20am, and usually I'd go back to sleep this early, but this time I was so afraid I'd just go back to that dream that I decided the extra sleep wasn't worth it. I was shaken up until tonight.

uberscary nightmare, which words can't convey )

my deli-roll meal was a success. i didn't label the deli-rolls, and each one was different, so everyone just passed them around and tried all of the different ones. And the one person who I was out to impress really liked my deli-roll, which made me very happy. A said there wasn't enough sauce, and then I think [livejournal.com profile] cynara_linnaea or possibly JL[female] or someone else yelled at him for not being nicer to me after I made 12 freaking deli-rolls. I just figure if he really cared that much then he shouldn't be eating my deli-roll anyways.

we went through most of them, but there's a little left over in 408's fridge that i have to retrieve. It's my lunch for Mongefest on Tuesday!

Then we hung out afterwards in the lounge, or the "fun room" as we renamed it. Mostly talking about the show, and other things as well.

Of course, I only had an hour between when I got home and when I had to go to Iron Gate, except it was really much shorter. And then something happened that I won't get into that took 15 precious minutes. And thus I had no time to go to FG before the show to pick up cast party food and flowers. I figured I'd get flowers at WaWa.

WaWa, much to my dismay, doesn't have flowers. And any place that did wouldn't be open. And I had to stay to make sure the pizza got here. So when i got back to Iron Gate I was in tears, and then A.J. saw me and was really nice, and then [livejournal.com profile] masteraleph tried to find someone else to get the flowers, but he ended up not, and JG said that 7-11 sells flowers, and they're much closer.

Unfortunately, there was only 1 rather dead boquet at 7-11, and I needed 2 boquets, the un-dead kind. So I had to go to FG after all [this was all after the pizza had arrived during intermission. I was very pissed off by the end of it and wanted to kill everyone who was making me do things. I mean fine, I have a job. But that job is costumes. Somehow I also became the general doeverythingsincei'mnotneededbackstage girl. And there's only 1 of me, and I really can't be at 2 places at the same time. But I got everything, and there were flowers.

I never get flowers, though. The cast got flowers for opening night. The stage manager and director got flowers tonight. But no flowers for me. I suppose I shouldn't care so much, and I got a really amusing book [the worst case scenario book!] but I also want flowers. Maybe not flowers for doing costumes, but flowers because it's my birthday soon [14 days!] and valentine's day soon [9 days] and yes I know valentine's day is really a christian holiday, but it's so secular now, and I want to get flowers and chocolate. I'm probably not going to, but I can always dream, right?

meanwhile I don't have actual birthday plans. my birthday is on a sunday, so we can't really go out [and i still have Sunday Night Learning] and the JG's birthday is the next weekend, so we'd be celerating hers. So I guess no birthday party. :( at least my parents are buying me tons of kippah yarn in israel if they can find it [i can find it easily, but then again i lived in jerusalem for 2 months].

And of course, another story that i'm not going to tell now. Because I always have stories.

funny story, not so appropriate for reading at work. )

In other news, when I got out of Williams for the 2nd time, the church bells were playing "The impossible dream" from Man of La Mancha. I usually don't notice the church bells, or if I do, they just play the normal song and ring out as many times as they're supposed to. So that made my day.

In other other news- I got 4 hours of sleep, I'm perfectly awake now, and lunch consisted of a white chocolate mocha. I could supplement that with a smoothie, or maybe another trip to Godiva [I'm insane!] or whatever I eat when I get back at 2. I'm not hungry now, but I'm going to be biking 40 blocks total to get to my appointment and back. I guess that's not so bad. I'm really and truly insane. And we have 2 shows tonight! But [livejournal.com profile] cynara_linnaea is helping with the tickets tonight so I can either be lazy or help out with those again and keep her company or a combination of both. I'll for sure collect by myself for the 1st few minutes of the show when people are still coming in so she can see the beginning. I've already seen the show about a billion times [and 3 times actually in costume, running it like a real show].

Now that the programs are done (courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] levana_b) I don't need to take pictures of the cast. But I enjoyed doing that; it gave me a chance to run around like crazy in front of the stage, jumping on top of furniture, ducking down to the floor to get the perfect angle. I'm not such a great photographer, but I'm very proud of my teatron pictures. I'll have to burn them onto a cd, there are almost 200 between the 2 nights I photographed it.

And I still need a place for the cast party. I.C. is sick, so there's no way she'd let us have it at our place. I didn't even bother asking. But [livejournal.com profile] groovin_reuven, maybe you could host it. You're roommate is in MD, and you wouldn't be responsible for any of the food and I'd help you clean up on Sunday...

Other conversation, also not so appropriate. Another LJ-cut.

this is a Live Journal cut. )

Im sure there's more to come later.

Teatron!!!!

It's a robot that makes tea. And I would like some right now.

Performance #1 of The Chopin Playoffs was a success, aside from Mr. Wong (A.J.) not having a hat. That's kind of my fault, kind of the auditorium's fault, and kind of the %$&%^#%$#^ %$%$%^^& who stole the Fez's fault. He's supposed to wear a Fez [you can see it in the playbill being modeled by our beautiful cast members] but after Thursday's rehearsal, it went missing. No one has seen it since then. And it belongs to Rabbi Seif. I have been looking and looking and looking and have not found it.

Tonight I told Rabbi Seif, who was like "what can you do? These things happen. Don't beat yourself up, Rachel." Of course, by then I was on my way out of the office, and I burst into tears in the auditorium [which was unlit and empty at the time.] The fez is from Morocco, so it's not easily replacable. I feel horrible. Further proof of my irresponsibility.

Somehow I made it to call, and I had nothing better to do so I sold tickets at the door. We ended up with around 35 people, which isn't bad for a Wednesday night, except that the theatre seats around 200 people so it looked rather sad. Tomorrow's early show will likely have the same kind of turnout. But Saturday night should be sold out.

[livejournal.com profile] masteraleph and A.J. came up with a strategy for acting last year. It's called "not sucking." The idea is not to suck. And everyone pulled off not sucking. Yay!

I could put up more bloopers, but I've forgotten the majority of them. Check out [livejournal.com profile] levana_b's post from a few days ago if you're interested in seeing our wit.

Once upon a time, my life consisted of going to school coming home, doing homework, and sleeping. Gradually I started becoming more involved in things: dance, Odessy of the Mind, band, theatre, and voice lessons, though I was never involved in all of those at the same time. Homework started getting harder and more time-consuming. Yet I didn't need to resort to all-nighters until my senior year of high school.

Now, all that insanity seems like nothing compared to what has been happening this week.

long crazy spazzyness )

The show is in less than a week! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

I'm not going to be human again until February 5th.

P.S. The dining hall has fries tonight. Huzzah!

Fun bloopers

[livejournal.com profile] arigi: I have something else to do
A.J.: A woman?
[livejournal.com profile] arigi: Sorta...
Everyone bursts out laughing
[livejournal.com profile] arigi:is that my line?
[livejournal.com profile] levana_b gives him the actual line. "I have something else planned"

A.Z.: Fern, I have been with many, many girls...

A.Z.: That's my mother, she's nuts!
