The fact that this exists made my evening
theyellowhobbit: (Default)
First sentence from the first [public] entry of each month:

Jan: Despite getting a massage on Sunday night, my left shoulder is still bothering me.
Feb: I have most of my courses set, and I got into one of the two seminars (Ritual, Gender, and Space in Ancient Judaism and Early Christianity).
Mar: I've been bad about posting, and I should catch up. Ok, that's just lame, so the next sentence there is: First of all, from last Saturday, there was the Settlers of Catan cake
Apr: It’s been a while, so an update seems to be a good idea. Gah, another one. What's wrong with me? Last week I was at Penn.
May: So dsKC has years and years of DMing experience.
Jun: So last night I was introduced to the paper game. The title on that entry is quite amusing, "You may have Excalibur, but I have a jaguar!"
Jul: I'm going to DC this weekend for the HRSFA house party.
Aug: I'm reading the 3rd chapter of Eicha/Lamentations which has a different tune from the rest of Eicha.
Sep: So I had my callback today, in the same place where the audition was.
Oct: I ended up getting a small mezzo solo in the middle of "[A Man Come Into] Egypt" this song that they've done in previous semesters, which I now need to learn, and which I only was sight-reading the solo.
Nov: My mom sent me a link to the Providence Journal which has information about the election, and what the ballot will be.
Dec: If you're in the Cambridge area this Sunday night (December 7th) my a cappella group, Techiya, is having our annual fall concert.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In other news, I've actually managed to get some things done.
a list, not so interesting to anyone but me )
It's not that scary, but there are 2 papers and a take-home final which is much like a paper. Maybe if I e-mail professor Austin now I can feel less bad about not doing things today. Just did so.
Your result for The Perception Personality Image Test...
NBPC - The Daydreamer
You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on the hidden treasures of life (the background) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the colors around you. Because of the value you place on nature, you tend to find comfort in more subdued settings and find energy in solitude. You like to ponder ideas and imagine the many possibilities of your life without worrying about the details or specifics. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You are a down-to-earth person who enjoys going with the flow.
Which Discworld Character are you like
created with QuizFarm.com
You scored as Carrot Ironfounderson
You are Captain Carrot Ironfounderson of the City Watch in the greatest city on the Disc – Ankh-Morprok! A truly good natured, honest guy, who knows everyone, and is liked by all. Technically a dwarf, but only by adoption. You’d rather not be reminded that you are the true heir to the throne, but that does explain why people naturally follow your orders…
Daemon Test )
I'm surprised I scored that high on extroversion, considering I gave the introverted answer for a lot of them, or at least the slightly introverted answer. Large crowds of people are not my ideal social scene, unless I know a good number of the people there.
This is stolen from [livejournal.com profile] kressel, because it is easy and fun.
I have a lot of people on my friends list. Some of you I know pretty well, some of you I've met IRL once or twice, and some of you I barely know at all. We might have something in common, or perhaps you read my LJ because my life is very different from yours.
So I'd like to know something about you, whether you be a random lurker or someone who I've been friends with since high school or someone who I see every day. It can be anything, such as "I hate the dark and will turn on every light in the room" or "I am fluent in 6 languages" or "I am addicted to chocolate."
So it would be cool if all of you responded.
Keep in mind that this is a public post, so would advise you not to put up anything you wouldn't be comfortable with the world knowing.
Your Score: Exclamation point
You scored 53% Sociability and 47% Sophistication!
Yes, you are fine around others. Fine. But you wish you could have just a *little* more alone time. Okay, well, a lot more alone time. In fact, you'd be happier if you didn't have to go out nearly as much. You get along very well with the period, who tries mightily to take up as much of the load as he can. But fools will not listen. You want to scream, "Cut it out, for the love of Safire!"
But, all of that notwithstanding, you do your duty. And, if sometimes you feel like a Chicago street hooker, you also remember that you really do have an important role to play. Your soul remains pure. Hold your head high!
Wow. I totally am an exclamation point, except for the whole Chicago street hooker thing. What's that all about?
Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post your this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.
8-bit theater It's a good webcomic, based on one of the early final fantasies. Basically black mage is evil, bent on taking over the world, fighter is an idiot who likes swords, white mage is female and black mage thinks she's hot, but she hates him. Red mage likes to cross dress. I actually haven't been keeping up with it as of late.
Attempting to cook At this point I actually can cook, but when I put this on my list of interests I was still having many "bakingscapades." Like the oven in 309 Highrise North is named Trogdor because of a bakingscapade of mine sophomore year.
Being a hobbit I is hobbit. I has hobbity skillz. I can has shiny thing? Ok. I have no clue why I broke into lolcats speak, but I am a hobbit. I've been short for my entire life, and I dubbed myself a hobbit freshman year of college. I met my friend [livejournal.com profile] cynara_linnaea, and we decided we were both hobbits. Then we found more hobbits and inducted them into our elite squad of hobbit-folk who are going to take over the world hobbity. Unfortunately I don't know any other hobbits in Cambridge. I might write a post about this soon.
Dispatch Dispatch is an awesome band that was really popular while I was in high school, at least in New England. Most people in my youth group would play Dispatch songs on their guitars. I actually performed a song of theirs, "Elias," in a few talent-show type thingies, each with a different group of people. I think I did it 4 times total. Perhaps more. It's mostly A-E-D-Bm chordwise.
Eddie from Ohio (EFO for short) They are an awesome folk group who I got introduced to the summer before senior year of high school. I was one of the few people at my summer camp who played lefty guitar, and I lent my guitar to the head Rabbi's husband for a few hours b/c he played lefty as well and he didn't bring his guitar. When I went over to fetch it, he and some other people were playing the song "Jerusalem" by them. And I thought it was an awesome song. So I asked him who it was by and he said "Eddie from Ohio." So when I got home from camp I downloaded a bunch of their songs (this was back in the day before Napster and Kazaa got sued and downloading was still free) and got a few of their CDs. Then [livejournal.com profile] sirena_lupin and I saw them in concert and they were amazing and I got to meet them afterwards since it was a tiny venue. You should check them out.
OCP (what is that?) Actually, as of when you posted the meme I decided to edit my interests a bit. This one is no longer there. But OCP stands for the Orthodox Community at Penn. I was very involved in the OCP during sophomore and junior years of undergrad. Then I became a heretic.
Thinking way too much I guess I actually haven't posted many long rambley introspective posts as of late. But I think too much. It can be a problem sometimes. Too bad I'm never thinking about my readings that I should be doing...
That's it. Though I suppose if other people gave me another 7 interests I could expound on those as well.
