An out-of-context question: my boyfriend is considering wearing kippah regularly, and plus I need some more for school because I've decided to wear them while at school (all the time, as opposed to on-and-off as I have been doing), and hence I need to buy quite a few kippot. I need a place to buy knit kippot online as inexpensively as possible. Any thoughts?
Meaning would you like me to make them or where else can you get them?
In terms of me, I'd love to do them (if you didn't mind waiting a little bit depending on whether or not you wanted them all at once, since I can do a lacy one in like a day or 2, but a normal one takes longer and I have 2 other orders at the moment). And then your comment would relate to the post b/c I could use the money to buy the House DVDs!
In terms of other sites, knitted kippot are surprisingly expensive when homemade (of course, the machine ones are usually really cheap) http://www.chadiscrafts.com/womenkippahpage.html - lace ones for 35$ each and even the normal ones are 25-30$
This one is much cheaper: http://www.zionjudaica.com/Knit_Kippot-33.asp (6.95 for the regular knit kippah, though they're all pretty standard)
These are 8.95-30$ http://www.alljudaica.com/catalog.asp?catid=60120
Here's another one: http://www.judaism.com/search.asp?nt=CKDUDW&sctn=8830
etc. I just ran a google search on knit kippot, so it's that simple.
I got a bunch from ajudaica.com, which were all under $5 a pop (most under $3!) so I'm set for now. I would like to commission some from you for both of us eventually. Thanks!
Also- have you checked out any local judaica stores? I know there's a nice one in Lower Merion on Montgomery I think, (right across from Yitzi Peking, the fleish chinese restaurant). They also have a nice collection of kosher wines, although that has nothing to do with anything. I'm not sure abut anything in Philly proper... Ok, everything "judaic" in Philly is UPenn Jewish Studies department. I don't think they sell kippot there. Though there is a nice library at the CAJS on 4th and Walnut, if you could get in and wanted to see cool rare books...
