My laptop had been having problems since around February. It was always freezing up, and I had to reboot. Eventually I made the connection that it had to do with the wired internet, and then it stopped recognizing that I had any sort of LAN connection. Thus, I could not use the DSL in my apartment. But it stopped freezing, and I figured that was good enough for now, since I had a bunch of important things on it and I didn't want to reformat my hard drive without backing everything up.

Then we decided that since I needed a laptop for Israel, we'd send away mine to Dell for repairs, and [livejournal.com profile] lopaanre would use mine once it returned next week, and I would use his, since I'm leaving on Sunday. And we backed up everything important onto the external hard drive.

But then DHL rung the doorbell today, and lo and behold, my laptop was back! It's fixed! I'm updating from it.

So [livejournal.com profile] lopaanre, you have your laptop back now. And I'm taking mine. And we can reformat it when I get back if you still think it needs it.

If I have time, I'm going to burn some photos onto CDS, so I can have the empty space for something else. I'm afraid to have them be only on the external hard drive. But space is important as well...
