Casting just went out for Teatron. Luckily, my nightmare did not come true.

That's right, yours truly is Mrs. Trotsky [not actually Natalia Sedova, just plain ol' Mrs. Trotsky] in "Variations on the Death of Trotsky." ([livejournal.com profile] arigi is Trotsky and A.J. is Ramon [He looks pretty ugly in that picture, but our Ramon will be young and strapping]. In one of the variations Mrs. Trotsky and Ramon are having an affair...)

I think this is the only time in Rachel history that I've actually gotten the part I wanted (in HS I got bit parts and in college I've never made it in until now. I would have been happy with anything, but this is mamash the part I wanted.)

So anyone who is up for a trip to Philadelphia- my show is February 14th, 15th, and 17th. If you're coming for Shabbat I'll invite you to my semi-exclusive Teatron pre-show deli-roll meal.

Thanks to everyone who tried out. (And I'm sorry for those of you who didn't get in. A.A. I still think your audition was amazing.)

So the weekend of my show is a weekend that works for my parents coming down to see it. I called my mom this morning to tell her about me getting in.

Then I went to the museum, and on my way in I saw Ben. So I got to chat with him for a bit.

Then I went to Hillel, and I got 2 packages- Mary Douglas' Purity and Danger and my kangaroo (Indiana Jones except not really) hat!!!

With the hat and the patiche and the trowel, I am totally an archaeologist.

If only I had gotten the hat before going to the museum- then I could have shown it to Ben...Or maybe not. It's hard to wear both a hat and a bike helmet.

And last, but not least, I applied for about $650 from Jewish Studies for my sources (recordings of the mikvah conference) And they decided to give me $750 instead!!! They think I should take cabs instead of buses and get nicer recording devices. That's fine by me. Though I'll still bus to CAJS. I'm too out of shape to bike there and back (it's like 35 blocks each way, making a grand total of 70. Not a horrible ride, but biking uphill against the wind is not my cup of tea[tron].)

What is the world coming to when everything is going right?

(Well at least I missed a stitch in the scarf I'm making and had to restart it. That should take care of karma.)

Dr. Erickson gave us tentative approval for the independent study Ben and I will be doing.

I can stay over L.L.'s house after Ari's wedding, so I don't have to worry about driving 10 hours in one day. I might be taking the train anyways. That would give me lots of knitting time!

And the Torah Lishmah committee for the Koach Kallah is a lot less work than I thought it would be.

And we might have a dramaturge, thanks to me.

Ok, this is seriously starting to get scary...

Meeting for Torah Lishmah w/RK
Write progress report and send it to Dr. Erickson [Well, I tried to e-mail it. SAS is being sassy again, and generally uncooperative.]
ANTH322 studying
Write Materials section:
-Jerusalem
-Sepphoris (or Tzippori, as it's actually called everywhere except academia)
-Hasmonean palaces
Book review
edits for [livejournal.com profile] batshua
Harvard Div personal statement
Hebrew U personal statement
Jewish Studies Thesis

So I still have a lot to do. And I feel too dizzy to continue. Maybe I can make myself do the book review, but then again, it's 3-6 pages.
