The deadline for grades to be up is today. I still have nothing there for Spirit & Law, and the incomplete for Jewish History. Granted, the latter may be because Professor Ruderman and Andrew haven't had a chance to meet.

But there is no good reason why Professor Fishman can't get her grade in by now. I mean, how hard can it be? Nothing we did was graded, at least for the 300 level. [The 500 level had a paper, but that was it.] So either I got an A, because I participated a lot and wrote good responses and facilitated an interesting discussion, or I got lower because my discussion was a roller-coaster out of my control [though she didn't notice that part], my responses weren't good enough, and I didn't participate enough in class. I would think the former to be more true. And grades in Jewish Studies are inflated anyways. We can all get A's. [[livejournal.com profile] desh was right on writing "A's" vs. "As," as much as I hate the stupid apostrophe. I still maintain that BTs should not have an apostrophe.]

Most of us probably deserve A's. We all made class interesting. There was never really a time where no one had anything to say. There was never a week where no one did the reading [even though in a particular week, a certain amount of people may have skipped the reading, there were always enough prepared people. I myself did the readings most weeks, and when I couldn't speak intelligently enough to speak in class, I would at least volunteer to read out loud. Except for the class where my throat hurt, which I still maintain was Adam's fault.]

**Edit** [livejournal.com profile] cynara_linnaea said the grades wouldn't go up until 5pm. it's 6:16. The deadline was today. Where are my grades? Graaaaaaaaaades!!!

I thought talking to Professor Galor from Brown would help me narrow down my choice of a summer program.

Instead, all she could do was tell me about her program.

So now the list is:

Bar Ilan- tel safi [1.5 hours from Jerusalem, religious kibbutz, optional davening is provided]
UNC- Yotvata [3+ hours from Jerusalem, right near my cousins' kibbutz, though. kosher food, best ice cream in the country, I may be half of the shomer shabbat population there]
Hebrew U- Tel Dor [near Haifa, so maybe 2 hours from Jerusalem, but Tova lives in Haifa, and [livejournal.com profile] yadfothgildloc will be doing the dig. And the accomodations are so cushy!]
Hebrew U also has one at tel-hazor
U Haifa- Hippos [near tiberias, staying at Ein Gev (an awesome youth hostile I stayed at on EIE) no work even friday morning, so shabbats in jerusalem would be quite doable]
Brown- apollonia [takes place the end of the summer, so visiting hungary on the way home wouldn't be so doable.]

Tel Dor, Hippos, and Yotvata seem to have the most interesting sites.

I'm never going to be able to figure this out!

I called Adam, and asked if he got the kippah yet. He said he wasn't sure whether or not it came in today's mail, since his mom must have taken the mail to work. So he wouldn't know for a while.

He had shown the picture of it that I sent him to his brother, who thought it was awesome.

What can I say? I know kippot. :)

If only I could become world-famous, and charge tons of money for shiny scarves and custom kippot and hats and whatever else I can figure out how to make. Then I could be financially independent, and not worry about how little grad school will pay me as a stipend for the next 7 years of my life.

I wouldn't even need the kind of fame where people point to me on the street and say "that's Rachel!" More like someone would walk up to someone wearing a kippah and ask "is that an authentic Yellow Hobbit kippah?" "no, it's a fake I bought in a back-alley of Ben-Yehuda street." "oh, sorry, I'm only interested in guys who wear the real thing."

Or that my work could be complex/fancy enough to merit charging enough for me to make a living wage. As it is, if I charged 20$ for a kippah, my guess is that the easiest kippah, done all in one sitting, would take about 10 hours. That's 2$ an hour.

Maybe I should look into making the ones with wire, like this http://www.kippot.com/
It's not really my thing, but she charges 100$ for something like that. If materials costed 20 at most, and she took 5 hours to make one, that would still be 16$ an hour. I have a really cool one that I wore until some time freshman year, when I was frumming out. It's pretty, and I miss wearing it.

Some people do pay insane amounts of money for a scarf. http://www.armchair.com/store/things/artscarf.html
179$!!!!!! It's straight knitting. The yarn might cost 40$ or even 80$ but that would still be a 99$ profit.

I gotta get me some designer yarn. The stuff that Jon gave me for channukah might work.
