channukah in january
Jan. 11th, 2006 08:58 pmTHE CUISINART CAME!!!!!!!!!!
Shiny! and pointy! and may replace S's cutco knife [for interesting purposes that scare A and A, or anyone of the male gender.] EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
[Ok, you all can uncover your ears now. No, wait. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Now you can.]
I have to toivel the blades tomorrow in the schukyll on my way downtown. Yes, I will boil them afterwards. No, they won't be as shiny, but they'll be halachically acceptable for food-makingness.

Date: 2006-01-12 06:34 am (UTC)we used to do that in the paint branch, by my house in CP, but then were informed by a rabbinic-type-person that rivers and streams don't really count as mikvaot, because the water isn't collected in a basin, it's just flowing by.
is there an alternate opinion/psak/understanding of the issue i should know about so i can go back to tovelling things in rivers again? (assuming it's more accessible. i think the closest thing to me currently is a pond)
