Last night I dreamed that I had accidentally signed up to read Torah at Tremont Street on Saturday morning, despite the fact that I had D&D at my place in the afternoon. It was Friday and I was considering whether or not I should try to get out of it, but realized it was probably too late for them to find someone else. I woke up before I actually read Torah in the dream. And it took me a while to realize that no, I had not actually signed up to read Torah at Tremont Street.

Well, some people sign up to read Torah at Tremont Street, for the 7th aliyah, and the gabbaim are only told after the 6th aliyah that said person didn't show up, at which point they do a loooong Mi Sheberach so that someone can learn the parsha quickly. Some people. ;p

But to be fair, she had a really good reason for skipping.

despite the fact that I had D&D at my place in the afternoon.

Are the two things so mutually exclusive?
