Dresses, voting, and life
Mar. 4th, 2008 08:23 pmIt has been a long, stressful day, but at least I get to have dinner before Buffy. I went to RI today to vote, and I also had a dentist appointment. And I stopped in the house to pick up some of my old dresses. There is a ball on Saturday night, and I am going, and if E-Hobbit is here this weekend, she needs a dress. The dresses I got are my old Goth dress, which I haven't worn since 10th grade, and my prom dress from 11th grade. If the Goth dress is too small, the prom dress should fit (unless it's too large). It is blue and sparkley, and has spaghetti straps, but I also brought back a cardigan which can be worn over it.
I also went to the discount fabric store across the street and bought some gold fabric (I think it's satin) for my Chinese dress, so I can sew it in the slits and fix the problem that the slits were way too high. Previously I had been using safety pins (provided by
pastwatcher) which kind-of worked, but if I moved too much they came out. And I really couldn't just let the slits stay the way they were. And now I have improved movement ability. I'll have to do the sewing before Saturday night, but
currentlee has a sewing machine (which most of the time just functions as a perch for Prawn Salad to sit on) and he's going to let me use it and set it up for me. Though I have to figure out how big these pieces of fabric will be and cut them to be the right length, and I should probably have a hem at the bottom first so the fabric doesn't unravel.
Voting was good. When we got there, there was a bit of a wait to sign in if your last name started with the letter A-F (the other two lines had practically no people), but once through there were more than enough voting booths. And in the end I got to put my ballot into the machine, which read it. There were about 1000 people who had voted in Barrington at that point (3:30 PM-ish) and about 300 had voted in the Republican primary and 600 had voted in the Democratic primary. (Yes, I know that doesn't add up to 1000. This is what I overheard.)
Unfortunately, I have way too much to do this week, and no time in which to do it. Take for example, laundry, which very much needs to be done. However, this requires being at home so I can take out loads and put in new ones. I'm down to wearing my jean skirts since I've run out of pants. Technically I could wait until Sunday except E-Hobbit is coming and I want my room to be clean, which it won't unless the laundry is done. Also there are questions on readings I need to write for my seminar by tomorrow, since that's when I'm meeting with the prof (our presentation is next week but the class needs a week to have the questions so they can have time to answer them.) I might just write them between 12 and 1, but that would be a very irresponsible thing to do. Thus I may not get any sleep tonight. Maybe I'll work during Buffy. I really can't justify going to Buffy, except that I need to for my sanity. Maybe I'll leave early. I can do that, since
currentlee has all 7 seasons. And he and I haven't watched Buffy together in a while (this is because HRSFA watched all of season 3 and so far we've been watching all of season 4, so thus I don't usually need to catch up on episodes. I missed the day I did the Costco run for Vericon, but that's it).
Also- since when was 4 slices of French Toast with maple syrup not a filling meal? That's what I had for breakfast, and then 20 minutes into class my stomach started hurting as if I had eaten nothing. This was pure carbohydrates, those things that fill you up. Plus there was protein. And there were vitamins since I had cranberry juice. WTF?

Date: 2008-03-05 02:31 am (UTC)Maybe 3 pieces of french toast and a scrambled egg or a serving of scrambled tofu (etc) would work better.

Date: 2008-03-05 05:30 am (UTC)And I've been eating a lot of tofu lately, though I've been warned that it contains a lot of estrogen, so I shouldn't have too much (like a whole brick for dinner).
