2 finals on the wall...
Jan. 15th, 2008 01:51 pmOne exam down, two to go, and both papers are handed in. The exam went pretty well except for the part where I needed to make up a New Perspective scholar. I knew the arguments, I just didn't know who they went with, so I took a guess and wrote Gager as one of my scholars, and Boyarin as the other, who was also conveniently in the short answer/identification section. Boyarin isn't new perspective per se, but he had an argument that worked, and I knew it, so I decided to call him new perspective. So perhaps my essay will read correctly except for when I say "Gager says _____" and then they can correct me on the scholar but accept the rest of my essay as correct.
I also had to badly paraphrase Galatians 3:28, which actually reads, "28: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." ~ King James translation
(It actually should say "...there is no male and female." This has been the topic of much scholarly debate.)
If I had studied more, I don't think it would have helped me that much beyond being able to quote Galatians 3:28 verbatim and knowing the correct NP scholar to use for the opinions I stated (it probably would have helped to have read them in the first place...) so I don't feel bad for not studying. I'm just glad I found out the correct time and showed up at 9am instead of 12 PM!
I need to make a bunch of phone calls to arrange my other final... Ok. Now I've left a message for them.
At least the Machinist Final [of Doom] will be straightforward, albeit incredibly difficult. Starting probably tomorrow I will be going through everything to create a comprehensive study sheet. Though I also have a shopping trip planned with MA, which will take place in the middle of the day. I suppose I could go to Andover in the morning and work until my appointment, and work in the afternoon after the shopping trip.
And I'm taking the rest of today off besides the necessary phone tag I will undoubtedly be engaged in. It turns out I'm very popular and am getting a lot of tea.
Related quote of the day:
GM: You're always discussing tea-related things. I feel like you're in England!
I forget that normal people don't go out for tea several times a week; they go out for coffee. It just goes to show you what happens when I hang out with HRSFA all the time.
