Almost done
Jan. 14th, 2008 04:21 pmI'm almost done with the stone vessels paper. I'm on the part where I talk about the archaeology, which is all well and good, except I'm not sure how to link the rabbinic stuff to the Pharisees, especially when I'm arguing that the rabbis are not the Pharisees. And the paper does mention sex, in regards to bathing after sexual intercourse, and how this one scholar thinks this isn't a purity practice, but rather a matter of decency. Another scholar points out that this is a very limited definition of what "purity" is. I think "clearly he hasn't read Purity and Danger." (I love Purity and Danger. It's a great book. Even if it was wrong about Judaism.)
I was going to go out for tea this evening with
brokenwndw, but it's not happening now, which might be for the best since I might end up taking a bit longer with the paper, and then I have to start studying for the Nasrallah exam tomorrow. I'm not too worried, but I have to do at least something. And after that exam we will actually go out for tea.
Actually, does anyone want to edit the stone vessels paper? (If you read this by 5:30pm Eastern Standard time, you'd be in time to help me.) I think I'll be able to get away with what I have, but it is always nice to have edits.
And I think this paper is amusing enough to send to Ben, assuming it gets a good grade. Actually I might send it to him regardless. Anyone who wants to read the finished product is welcome to. It might be more than 10 pages; right now it's at 7.
*Edit* it's done. It's 9 pages. I finished it at 6 and by then the museum was closed so I decided I'd hand it in tomorrow. Thus if anyone can edit it tonight please let me know.
*Edit again* GM is looking at it for me, so I'm all set.
