I've been really good this week. I'm still working on my paper due tomorrow for Nasrallah's class where I get to make up a letter "written by Paul" and analyze it. I finally finished writing the letter (40 verses; it's a lot harder than it looks!) and I have a solid outline, and an intro paragraph. I had a lot of fun writing the letter and the intro. Analyzing the letter should be fairly simple, considering the letter itself is very straightforward and dividable, pretty much paragraph by paragraph, by themes. So now the paper is 2 pages long, slightly longer if I decide to put the letter back to 12 point font (it's 11.5 now and in a giant single-spaced block quote of doom.)
I was going strong for a while, but I got hungry, and my lunch of a deli-sandwich and the rest of the stuffed grape leaves (4) didn't fill me up, so I came home. I might just eat lunch, take a break, and go back to campus at 5 and work until the library closes at 11pm or whenever I finish my paper. I need to finish it tonight, so it can be edited by the awesome
hatam_soferet (tell me when I should send whatever I have to you by so you can read it at a reasonable hour) and so that I can make the changes tomorrow morning. The paper is due by noon, but I have an appointment slightly off campus at noon. I can work in the Widener library, which is the closest library to my appointment, from 9-11:45, which is the latest I can hand in my paper without being late for the appointment, since inevitably 11:45 will turn into 11:55 if I'm not careful. If I finish the draft tonight, the editing shouldn't take that long, so if I wake up at 7:30 and start working on it at 8 while eating breakfast, I might finish the editing before 9 and not have to go to widener at all. I guess I'll head there if I'm not finished by 9:30, so I'll still have a solid 2 hours to work in the library.
I'm lucky in that the sources I'm using are mostly ones I've photocopied already for my midterm essay. Thus, no outside research is required.
And I met with Cavan yesterday and showed him what I had of the letter then (about 1/2 of what I have now) and he liked it, and gave me lots of helpful suggestions. I don't know if I'll be able incorporate everything into the paper, but I'll try.
And I have a 99 red balloons story that I'll post when I have more time. I also have a "What Not to Write" in the works.
And my away message for g-mail chat while I work on this paper is the following:
St. Paul in his letter to the Ephesians
Said, "It came to me upon a midnight clear
I finished writing all of my gospel
Now all I seem to want is sex and beer.”
And I should probably call a run of some sort for HRSFA. Maybe when I have a better idea of when I'm finishing this draft tonight.
