I think I've told you guys that I'm leading Yom Kippur mincha at Harvard Hillel this year. I got the CD a few weeks ago (it came HP7-day) and the nuisach they use is a lot plainer than what I learned last year from the CJC recordings that Pollackses made for us. His have all these embellishments, whereas the Harvard one has more of an Orthodox nuisach (as in what OCP does.) And they didn't know that there's a different tune for the chatzi kaddish of mincha and just say it's the mussaf one again.

But I asked my coordinator if I could use my Penn nuisach (and e-mailed her the link to the recording so she could hear for herself) and she said she'd ask the gabbaim for me. This was like a week ago. It took a while for the gabbaim to get back to her, but apparently they are both excited to hear "my" "new" nuisach. So thus I get to use the fun nuisach of Pollackses awesomeness. W00t.

This also means that I can once again go ahead with the practicing. I had stopped until I had an answer since I didn't want to practice what I knew if I couldn't use it and I didn't want to learn the new one if I didn't have to. I suppose I could contain both in my head, but I'd rather not confuse myself unnecessarily.

And now I only have a month and a half until YK. But I still have a head start, since I have done this before. So it's all good.
