On Thursday I went to go visit Harvard Divinity, and speak with an admissions officer there. Unfortunately they are on break right now, so the campus was mostly deserted.

However, I really enjoyed the visit, and the program sounds really good. I'm working on my application right now, and hope to have the essay finished soon.

The degree I'd be going for is a Master's of Theological Studies. The requirements are pretty broad and allow you to take classes in all of Harvard, which would include the anthroplogy department. (Archaeology is in the anthropology department, which makes me happy. :) ) It's a 2 year program, 4 classes a semester, no big thesis or anything. But I could probably publish stuff while I'm learning there, which would be nice. I'm not 100% sure that I'll get in, but I stand a pretty good chance.

If I do get in, it'll be a hard choice between Harvard and Hebrew U. On the one hand I like the Harvard program better, and the school is much more prestigious (which would help me get into a PhD program somewhere.) Harvard would actually allow me to take more archaeology courses than Hebrew U. would, though both require me to do a lot of self-education. On the other hand, Hebrew U. is in Israel. And I really want to be in Israel. But then again I'm planning on digging there this summer, and probably every summer. Maybe that'll be enough until I make aliyah. I don't know.

In the afternoon I got together with [livejournal.com profile] spazerrific, who I hadn't seen in 3 years! We went to Ta'am China for lunch, and we went to a yarn store somewhere in the area. I was good and restrained myself from buying any more yarn, since right now I have a ton (and a bunch of projects I still need to finish.) Maybe I'll treat myself to some shiny yarn when I finish all of the kippot that I've been commissioned to do.
