JitW Update
Oct. 22nd, 2006 07:09 pmJews in the Woods was amazing.
Everything about it was perfect- great food, a great group of people, great davening, great energy...
And the place was gorgeous. We were at Camp Milldale, where we were for the spring DC JitW, but since it's fall now, all the trees have changed colors. We got there early so I took a ton of pictures (a ton by my standards, 56 total, I'll put up the good ones.) And I took some videos of us singing around the campfire on Saturday night. I think for now I'll post all the scenery pictures, and then if no JitW people object I'll post the rest of them as well. (And
maric23, how do you post videos online?)
And we had no problems getting there, but on the way back we encountered this ginormous traffic jam, and the 2 hour 20 minute bus ride turned into a 4 hour bus ride.
And of course I did my usual JitW thing, which was not eating lunch before going (we left at 11) and not having enough for breakfast before leaving (I thought we'd get home at a decent hour...) So my lunch was a small bag of pretzels, an apple, Fanta, and some lindor truffles.
So I'll make myself some food now, since I deserve it.
And speaking of food, the biscotti went over well. So well that they never got served at any meal, since they never made it out of the kitchen. Everybody ate them when they were setting up lunch! I have a few left that I put aside before leaving, but there are only a few, and I'm saving them for my thesis meeting on Wednesday.
Ok. A pizza is in the oven. I should probably eat something while waiting so I don't collapse. I don't know why I do this to myself. I even have 2 tupperware containers and I could have used one to take some quinoa. There was so much leftover quinoa, it was insane! Like a giant trash bag full of quinoa! Fortunately, the leftovers will be donated to a soup kitchen/shelter/some sort of institution that provides food for those who cannot afford it.
For your viewing enjoyment.
*Edit*- The videos are not going up, since the sound is distorted and my singing sounds really bad (and you can hear my voice from among the others, since I was closest to the camera). We're all singing in different keys. It's painful. And there wasn't much visual on it anyways besides the fire.

Date: 2006-10-23 11:40 am (UTC)Hopefully things will still be pretty in RI around Thanksgiving. If they are I'll take a bunch of pictures. Actually I might do that today as well, though I should be working on my thesis.
