Sep. 11th, 2006 09:02 pmNow that it has been given to the intended wearer, I can show you all the top-secret kippah project.

(Doesn't the noise make you cringe?)
It was commissioned by
hatam_soferet. It's quite shiny. And it was pretty easy to make.
Now I'm working on the Rabbi's Daughter's kippah. I had to take out 2 patterned rows, since she wants a roundish geometric pattern as opposed to the shiny one I used for the Raphi-Dassi wedding. I need to borrow TB's kippah pattern book, because the pattern she liked came from there, and not from my book. You think I would have copied it over or something...
Actually, I probably did, and just threw it out when I was done.
And I can work on yours,
kellev in the meantime, since I don't want to proceed on the other one until I know exactly what she wants, for fear of having to undo what I've done (which wastes my time. Not that I'm in a rush.)
If I really were motivated, I could try to finish it this week, and bring it with me to DC. Though usually the small thread kippot take longer. And I'm only in the center of it as of now (I had started a while back...)
Do you want the blues to be in lines, or do you want me to alternate stiches of color in between rows for a gradally fading effect? It would be harder, but it might be fun.

Date: 2006-09-12 02:37 pm (UTC)In general the amount of time it takes me to finish a kippah depends on how much time I have to spend on it (ie, if I'm mashing for 4 hours on a non-shabbat day, that's 4 hours that I can crochet it, but if I'm out digging every day, then I would only have the time of the busrides there and back (about an hour) each day.) I crochet at the same speed for the most part, though I go faster when I'm only dealing with one color. Thus, I got the inside of
Right now I only have 2 real classes, though I don't think I can crochet in either of them. I'll ask the professors (usually I'll just do it until someone objects). Other than that there's a lot of potential crocheting time, but usually I'm doing something else (like
goofing offdoing research online, eating, playing super smash brothers, etc.) It's easier when I have a set activity that I can crochet in.So don't worry. I won't "rush" it.
