There is a Penn tradition of counting down the days until you go to Israel, and posting a quote for everyone to guess where it's from, and then the first person to guess correctly gets bonus points.

Alas, no one reads the upenn.hillel newsgroup anymore, so I'll try it here.

"White, college-educated women born in the mid-'50s who are still single at 30 have only a 20 percent chance of marrying. By the age of 35 the odds drop to 5 percent. Forty-year-olds are more likely to be killed by a terrorist: they have a minuscule 2.6 percent probability of tying the knot."

It's from that Newsweek article from the mid-80s, called something like "Late For Prince Charming."

Close. 1986. The cover title was "The marriage crunch" and the article itself was "too late for prince charming."

1 point for you. I'll keep a running total.

I still can't believe they had that terrorist line in there.

So more than 2.6% of 'white, college educated women' are killed by terrorists? Wow. It's worse than I'd feared, and that was 20 years ago!!! ;>)
