Back from the doctor's office
May. 30th, 2006 04:26 pmSo I just got back from the doctor, the JCC gym, and the dentist.
The Doctor, Dr. G:
Apparently I'm fine. She said she noticed that I had lost weight when I was at her daughter's wedding, [Dr. G is a frum Jew, and her daughter's wedding was the one I went to on Lag B'omer, and am still crocheting the blanket for] though she wasn't going to call across the dance floor to me. Yay!
Since I turned 21, I had to get a gynocological exam even though I'm not sexually active. [Of course, Dr. G apologized for having to ask whether or not I was pregnant when I told her about the missed period, since of course she knows there's probably no chance I'm having pre-marital sex.] And of course everything was fine, except that apparently my hymen is already broken, even though I've never had sex. But this isn't so uncommon. I'm thankful that I don't live in a time when they parade the blood-stained bedsheet around after the wedding night to show that the girl was a virgin. Then I would have problems.
Then I had to get a tetanus shot, since it's been like 10 years, and I need it updated for Israel. I had to wait for 45 minutes because the receptionist never told the nurse that I was there! The nurse asked how old I was, and I said 21, and she said that I looked older. [Which would explain why she was asking about college in the past tense, like I had already graduated.]
My upper arm still hurts from it. It'll be like this for a few days.
The JCC:
I went to the JCC afterwards [since by then I lacked the time to go home] and gave them the registration forms. Turns out we had to pay 75$ less because registration fees don't apply for the summer! And the woman there also asked how old I was, and I told her, and she told me that I looked older. 2 for 2!
She said I could use the gym right away [which is what I had hoped for]. I had been smart and brought gym clothes. So I did 17 minutes on the elliptical, since I didn't want to be late for the dentist. I burned 150 calories. Yay!
The Dentist:
I usually get one of 2 dental hygenists. The one I usually have is really nice, and she doesn't give me a hard time for not flossing as much as I should. The other one does. But I had the nice one today.
Then I drove home, stopped by Michael's to get a new size 12 crochet hook [to restart the tgs kippah. If I find the old one, I'll use it for something else, since right now it's just white anyways]. Then I stopped by stop & shop, and bought food, including coffee milk!! Only in RI is there more coffee milk than chocolate milk in the grocery store. I've been craving it since last week. FG doesn't even have coffee syrup, which can be used to make your own coffee milk [just like chocolate syrup is used for chocolate milk.] They sell coffee milk at trader joe's in the small 1-serving bottles. Which is admittedly better than no coffee milk at all. And usually I bike downtown once a week, so TJ's isn't too far out of the way [21st and Market from 15th and walnut on the way to 39th and walnut]. It's worth it. I'm not sure if either autocrat or eclipse brands of coffee syrup are kosher, but if they are I'll probably just bring some back with me to Penn next year. Maybe I'll bring some to Yaakov and Dede's so I can show all you Maryland people the joys of coffee milk!

ok I warned you here goes . . .
.
I think thats pretty common to have abroken hymen, especially if you use tampons. I've switched to diva cup, which is reusable but also slightly bigger, so Im assuming mine is broken too. Which I'm sure I will be greatful for one night . . .

Date: 2006-05-31 09:44 am (UTC)also, for the record, it doesn't hold an ounce. you have to change it every half-ounce or so. see, if vagina's pointed straight up, and if you stood absolutely still, it could hold almos an ounce. But, neither are the case....

Date: 2006-05-31 01:45 am (UTC)Bwoken?
Date: 2006-05-31 04:29 pm (UTC)Personally, I think that's awesome.
Re: Bwoken?
Date: 2006-05-31 08:19 pm (UTC)I have mixed feelings. Part of me agrees that it's awesome, since it means that when I finally do have sex on my wedding night, it won't hurt as much. The other part of me feels weird. Even if it had broken a long time ago. I'm not sure why.
