Hat makes you look like an idiot!*
Mar. 6th, 2009 03:03 pmI was wearing my Jayne hat today, since right now it's the warmest hat I have (my llama one is in the hands of someone from Techiya, I forget who, and i keep on forgetting to ask. I should send an e-mail so that they can bring it to the next rehearsal). As I was waiting for the bus, a woman comes up to me and says "That is very cunning!" Had I not been on the cell phone at the time I would have thanked her, but I did smile at her. It made my day.
There have been a few times where I've noticed others in Jayne hats around Cambridge, but I've never had the guts to go up and compliment them on it. Also, it hasn't yet happened that I've been wearing my Jayne hat when I've spotted these other people in their hats. But I think now I'm going to make a point of complimenting people in Jayne hats. I mean, what can be cooler than a Jayne hat?

*That's a quote from the episode of Firefly in which this hat was featured. I would be just as happy with someone saying that to me as if they said it was cunning or shiny, since in any case they get the reference and that's what counts. Though I would not tell a random person that the hat makes him/her look like an idiot (especially because what if it was given to them from someone who knew Firefly, but the wear themselves didn't and thus would think I was insulting them?) and would instead say "ooh, a Jayne hat!" or "your hat is cunning/shiny!"
