I think I've always been interested in past cultures. History always seemed to be more events and individuals oriented, rather than studying the culture in which these events took place and people were a part.
I had an anthro class my sophomore year with Janet Monge that I really enjoyed, and junior year I was looking for a new major, since I didn't want to go into Jewish studies. And there was anthro, looking all shiny.
I guess the decision to focus on archaeology was partially because I could do field school in Israel and get credit* for it, and partially because I had the awesomest teacher ever for Biblical Archaeology. And now he's the awesomest thesis advisor ever.
And I could never deal with a job where I was stuck working in an office all day. Archaeologists get to be outside, and it's great exercise, and it's a lot of fun even if it can be really exhausting.
2. Would you like to be introduced to another female jewish near-eastern archeology student?
Sure!
3. What is your favorite thing to do for fun?
Your mom!
Ok. Real answer- well I knit all the time, so one could say that, but I'm sure there's a better answer...hmm...sleeping sounds pretty fun right now. But I'd say gaming, or capture the flag with dart guns.
4. If you could only pick 5 words to describe yourself, what would they be?

5. If you could go and observe any single period or event, when would you go and why?
That's a hard one...Oooh! I know. The revelation at Mt. Sinai, specifically God's interaction with Moses. So I could know what laws were actually given and what are annoying stringencies that Rabbis made up or were socially influenced fences.
*I use the word "credit" pretty losely. I still haven't gotten my Bar-Ilan transcript from this summer!!!
