One of the requirements of my grant was to send a letter to the Dorot Foundation of RI (and CC the Penn NELC people) describing my experiences at tel Dor (oddly enough they were giving me the grant for just Dor and not Safi, which didn't change the amount of money, but it does mean I only need to provide information about that program).

This is what I just wrote. (The footnotes in the actual letter are actual numbers and not asterisks, correctly embedded in the text...)

letter to Dorot as of now )

What do you think. Should I make any changes before sending it?

[livejournal.com profile] ozaku_kangaroo and I went downtown to Ritz camera today to look at the camera models I wanted to see. Of course, none of them were there! WTF? You're a camera store!

The guy wanted me to buy a Nikon. None of you guys have mentioned any Nikons. I told him I'd come back later, though obviously I won't since I'm buying whatever I'm buying online.

So then we stopped by RadioShack. None of them were there, either.

So then we stopped in H&M and then we took the bus back. It's been miserable out today. Otherwise I would have biked. That's why I didn't go gymming (that, and I was doing the Dorot thing, and I went to minyan as well...)

What do I do about the cameraness now? Any suggestions [livejournal.com profile] maric23?

**Update: [livejournal.com profile] platypuses was undecided between the Panasonic TZ1 and the Panasonic FX9, and says the former is slightly larger though not very large. Which just makes the choice harder. Circuit city has/had the TZ1. Though I have no clue how to get there. And the FX8 and 9 are similar enough to eachother... Then there's still the Canon A620, though it has the noise... Gah! I really need to decide soon before I go insane from lack of camera. There are so many things I want photos of...

In this case there's a bottom, and you don't die of starvation. I've been mashgiaching ("mashing") for the past 3 hours. If the action is mashing, then the kitchen should be called the "mash pit," right? Now we have everything closed besides the dairy dishroom, since we have to stay open late tonight to get the utensils from convocation, plus the leftover desserts (mmm, leftover desserts!). So Barry W. told me that once everything else was closed I could be upstairs. So here I am, upstairs, recharging the laptop.

And the Hillel kitchen basement has wireless. Is that not the coolest thing ever?

I bet you don't get paid 8$ an hour to check your e-mail/livejournal/knit/do homework...
