Rachel Adler?
Jun. 5th, 2006 10:45 pmShe was there. Of all the speakers, she was the one whose philosophy I most agreed with [everyone else was so left wing and liberal and while I didn't completely agree with Rachel, some of the stuff she said was very valid.]
And of course right after the workshop she started talking to someone with a microphone and recorder, who I could only assume was interviewing her. And I couldn't interrupt, and then I went off to get a tour of the mikvah.
And when I got back, she was gone!!! But she was supposed to be at a book signing! Where did she go? She flew home according to the other rabbis. I suppose that I could have signed Engendering Judaism in her place. The book seller dude thought I was her...
So I'm a little disappointed. But the mikvah was beautiful, and there was a cool play and I saw Emelia Diamant [daughter of Anita Diamant, who wrote the Red Tent] who I hadn't seen since like senior year of high school when she was on NFTY-NE board. And I met two cool girls, Sarah and Tamar, who were also in Ivy league schools and learning about Jewish stuff. And I got in touch with a friend, Anna, from Drisha who I hadn't seen since last summer and now she's married.
My head hurts, and I want to talk to Rachel Adler!!! I would have chased her down at Logan Airport but that would be stalkeriffic. Maybe I can give Stevie a message to give her next time he sees her at shul. Something like "Theres a friend of mine who has your name who really wanted to meet you, and then you left the mikvah conference and destroyed her dreams" Ok, not really. But I'll e-mail her. I definitely have to now.
And she's really Racheltacular and amusing. I can use words like "Racheltacular" to describe her.
And I'm still a bit nervous about e-mailing her from my e-mail account, which shows my name in the display. Both the sas and the g-mail do that...
