Unlike Batshua...

Or more like if you're among the people who I'm getting things for [which is for sure not everyone I know IRL on my friends list] and you have NO CLUE what to get me, then here are some hints **hint hint** [or the free ones could be gotten by anyone, and I'll probably write you a free midrash in return or something]
1. Yarn yarnity yarn. Especially the thin kippah yarn from Israel, if you're going there.
2. Tea. Fruit-flavored kosher tea. Like anything celestial seasonings has, or something from wissotzky.
3. If you all want to pool together and get me a chair-massage thingy http://www.comforthouse.com/comfort/massage.html it's 80.00$ So probably not happening and I'll end up asking my parents for my birthday. [This is assuming the digital camera is fixable and i get the ipod from them for channukah. actually, a back massager is probably more essential than an ipod, so i could wait on the ipod until next year. or ask grandma.]
4. Write a folk-song about me. [Like "The Hero of Canton" or "Henry Ford."] and then play/sing it for me, or at least send me the lyrics. Maybe get it spread around so everyone will know of my folk heroine-ness.
5. Give me a good plot idea for a sci-fi or fantasy story, so I can write something for Pennumbra.
6. Write my Rachel Adler/Tamar Ross paper for me.
7. Hit A over the head for me, since I'm not at Penn right now.

Why is no one e-mailing me back?
I e-mailed Dr. Erickson yesterday morning about field schools of field schoolness [I want to sign up for whatever dig I'm going on soon, so I can have that settled]. No response.
I e-mailed Katie, my Environmental studies TA about my grade for that class, no response. [That was Sunday]
I e-mailed Leslie about doing costumes for Tea-tron. That was Sunday night. No response.
I e-mailed Rabbi Seif, who usually is good about checking his e-mail [maybe too good] about whether or not dad could play clarinet for the next 11 months [this would be the 3rd rabbinical opinion] and no answer.
Professor Fishman got back to me, but she only said that shes posting grades online by Jan 3rd. That doesn't help me now...

And I feel too guilty to e-mail Andrew about the exam if I still haven't sent Ruderman his paper. And by still haven't sent, I mean still haven't written...

In which Rachel dreams anthropologically
Dec. 20th, 2005 01:15 pmI was on my way to Canada, to stay witha frum family. On the way I was going to go sight-seeing. I called them up for directions, and they said to drive through Olduvai Gorge*. I got so excited. Olduvai Gorge! Part of cradle of humanity, home of awesome fossilness.
Then I woke up, and realized that I was a huge anthropology dork. This stuff wasn't even recent. I couldn't have heard anything about Olduvai Gorge since January at the latest.
I'm thinking of e-mailing Monge about it. What else does she have to do during break anyways?
*Olduvai Gorge is located in Africa, {not Canada} Southeast of Lake Victoria. Paranthropus Boisei [one of the early homonids,3-1 million BC] was found there.
