I hate subways!
Jul. 6th, 2005 07:21 pmSo every morning, in order to go to Drisha, I must take the 1 from 181st street to 66th street.
This requires first of all, taking the elevator from the street to the tracks. I don't take the elevator because I'm lazy, but there are no stairs [well there are emergency stairs, but they're only for emergencies, hence the name.] This elevator is rather large, and there are 4 of them, but still, tons of people cram themselves into these devices. The ride down is about a minute long, which is long as far as elevator rides go. The car is not well-ventilated. It's hot, smelly, and goes really slowly. The air is thick in there. Every time I get on the elevator I find it hard to breathe.
And no, I'm not claustrophobic. Normally I'm fine on elevators.
Now we get to actually getting on the 1. It was all fine and dandy, until last week, when the 1 started getting delayed. A few times now, today being one of them, I've waited for over 10 minutes, and then when the train finally did arrive, it was completely packed. This morning I was lucky to get a seat on the second stop. On the way back the same thing happened, so I got off at 96 and got on the next 1, which was directly behind this 1.
Maybe I should take the A, and walk the 6 blocks from 59th street.
