Last night on ER...
Mar. 17th, 2005 10:02 amShalhevet took me to the ER around 9:45 last night. We walked there, because I didn't think it was worth it to take a cab 6 blocks downhill.
I had to wait 2 hours to be seen, which was nowhere near as bad as when my friend was in a few weeks ago and I was with her.
The TV was on ABC. There was this really trashy show about wives switching families for 6 weeks. Shalhevet and I were disgusted.
So at 12 they finally took me into a room to be seen. The front door was glass, and comepletly see through, though there was a curtain [which didn't entirely reach the floor.
The nurse was male. So when he told me I had to change into a hospital gown I was really unsettled. A year ago I wouldnt have minded, but I'm so used to being tznius, And hospital gowns are so not tznius. That, and the sleeves buttoned, and it took me forever to figure it out.
So the doctor [also male] finally saw me at like 12:30 or something. He did a few tests. It turns out I have seratonin syndrome, which would explain this, and the vocal tic, and the reaction that I thought was to the ambulance chaser but really wasn't.
Unfortunately, this means any SSRI would give me some crazy reaction, and I need a new class of medicines.
I've completely stopped the Paxil [it's only been a week, so it shouldn't produce a bad reaction.]
The problem is that they did NOTHING for my shaking. And I'm still shaking just as badly.
I called Dr. Rubin and left a message. I also called my mom, who offered to come out, though I don't know what she could do. I suppose she could feed me and give me tea and stuff. I told her there was nothing she could do that my friends couldn't do, but now that I think of it, most of them have class today, and I shouldn't be all alone in my room.
I should probably change out of my nightgown into real clothes [even though my nightgown is tznius]. It just seems like so much effort.
