The answers
Jan. 29th, 2005 06:41 pm1. I had a really hard time when I first became shomer kashrut giving up shellfish.
FALSE- I don't even like shellfish. I also could have had the question whether or not I've eaten a bacon cheeseburger [also false. I've never even eaten a cheeseburger. Even before I was Kosher, the idea bothered me].
2. The current Vice President of Guatemala is my cousin.
TRUE My cousins moved to Guatemala a few generations ago for business opportunities, and they're doing very well. They actually saved my Grandmother and her family from the Holocaust. Now my cousin Eduardo Stein is VP of Guatemala. My parents went to a wedding there, and their car broke down, and they were rescued by secret service.
3. My ex-boyfriend is currently studying at JTS.
FALSE I've never had a boyfriend, therefore, I have no mysterious ex. So he couldn't have gone to JTS. Would you have believed it was true if I had said HUC or Yeshivat Har Et-Zion [for both extremes...]?
4. I skipped a grade in math in middle school.
TRUE believe it or not, I was actually very good at math. There was a test they gave us, that I got 100% right, [plus doing well on whatever standardized test we took back then] and I skipped pre-algebra and took Algebra I in 7th grade with the 8th graders. It was awesomely cool. I eventually got back to the "normal" level when they had no trig for me and I was forced to take pre-calc, the most pointless class ever. But junior year I only had to take one math class.
5. I am currently addicted to a reality tv show.
TRUE The Amazing Race, if it counts as reality TV. Me and Avidan watch it together in the 4th floor lounge every Tuesday night at 9.
6. I once wrote a 10 minute murder mystery play with my friend Bess.
TRUE It was called "who killed Mark James." It was crazy. I don't know what posessed us.
7. I put excessive amounts of ketchup on my french fries.
FALSE Chas v'shalom! I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate ketchup. I won't eat food that has touched ketchup! ugh!
8. I used to want to be a Reform Cantor.
TRUE. I thought maybe I'd trick you all, since you know I wanted to be a Reform rabbi. But before that I wanted to be a Cantor. Then I decided I didn't want to be a music minor, and Rabbis also led services and sang and had more authority.
9. I once climbed to the top of the climbing tower at KUTZ Camp.
FALSE I'm deathly afraid of heights. It would never happen. I tried once, and got maybe 3 feet up, and decided it was waaaaay too scary.
10. I once made out with a guy on an airplane.
TRUE I'm not proud of this one, at all. It happened on the way to EIE. I don't know what I was thinking. Let's just say he ended up being an ass-hole [just in general, not having to do with anything happening on the plane] and he was an uber-Republican, and back then I was uber-leftwing-hippie girl. He then ended up going out with someone else on the trip, and he was abusive. So I'm glad nothing came of me and him. I definitely don't mind being shomer now. I wonder what the EIE people think of my frumness...
So both Bre and Jess are tied with getting 3 out of 4 of the falses. And Ariela also can get an honorary getting them all right [you would have wrote what I put up here, right?] Good job!
