cleaning- a perspective
Jan. 3rd, 2005 08:47 pmSo I spent a few hours this afternoon going through the random junk in my closet and seeing what could be thrown out or donated to charity.
I got rid of a lot of things, more than I usually do. I'm a pack rat, I save a lot of things unnecessarily, even when I never look at them again-old letters and notebooks and crazy stuff. So most of that got thrown out, with the help of a shredder and scissors. Boy was I messed up in middle school. I was so angsty. Way more angsty than this LJ is. *shudder*
One of the things I'm giving away is my old Furby [no, I'm not doing an Ali Shevrin]. When I put it on the bed it "woke up." It is so scary. I should put a warning on it: DO NOT TOUCH. THIS TOY IS POSESSED!!!! Run for your lives!!!!
**edit- I just added a pretty link to clarify what pulling an Ali Shevrin would be...She had fun with her Furby. Go Ali!**
So now we have space on my shelves [kinda] where I can put some of my books from semesters past.
It's weird, looking at all my stuff. I can see all the issues that used to affect me so much, and all the drama that went along with them, and I see how I've moved on, and created new drama. I've changed a lot, but then again I haven't. Some things create dilemmas, for example- what to do with my big giant collection of NFTY services, that I was going to use when I thought I was going to be a Reform Rabbi, and have the name of G-d on them? I have no use for them, and they take up space, but they cannot be thrown out. I think the 2 binders are going to Temple Habonim, or possibly a TYG that could actually use them. If only I could find one.
Who would ave thought that cleaning could be so deep?
