This is way cool: http://www.childsplaycharity.org
It's for real and it had great results last year. The gist of it is, the creators of the Penny Arcade comic decided to show the world that gamers and computer geeks are not self-centered assholes, so they set up a charity drive for the Seattle Children's Hospital and asked Penny Arcade's readers to donate money or toys for the kids at the hospital. The response was so incredible that they decided to do it again this year, and expanded the drive to include four other hospitals around the country. You can purchase toys through Amazon (the hospitals submitted wish lists) that will be delivered to the hospital of your choice, or you can donate money through PayPal.
So yeah. This is a chance to contribute to something really cool, to help out kids who will not exactly have the best holiday-seasons of their lives. :)
(Please post this in your own journal and spread the kindness.)
