Teen Girl Squad!!!!!! [b'ivrit?]
Nov. 8th, 2004 03:02 pmSo in recitation Teagan [our TA] turns on the projector, and lo, and behold there is Teen Girl Squad! She showed us an episode, I'm not quite sure why, but it was glorious.

So Good!
My Hebrew proficiency went quite well, I think, though I'm concerned because apparently Sataty isn't grading them.
My long essay was about 4 groups of Jews in Israel: the Haredi Jews, the Secular Jews, the Reform Jews, and the Dati Leumi Jews. I said that the Dati Leumi Jews wear kippot, and added a footnote that said only the men wear kippot, though married women wear hats. Footnotes rock. I should have added more, but I couldn't think of reason to.
My dialogue featured Rachel and Yosi. Yosi didn't want a language requirement because he wasn't good at languages. Rachel told him to be an engineer, since they don't have a language requirement. Yosi asks why, and Rachel says because they already speak a foreign language- bianary. Yosi thanks Rachel and is very happy. I called it "An Engineer was Born" [I forgot the present tense of the verb l'hivaled [to be born]. Is there one?]
That one also had a footnote: "Rachel and Yosi are speaking in Hebrew, even though they don't realize this."
Hopefully I passed, but if I didn't, I had an awesome time failing. Maybe I'll get cuteness points for the footnotes and title. Wouldn't you want to read "An Engineer was Born?"
I also got away with using mostly present tense. Whee!
