Breaking Shabbat?
Aug. 19th, 2004 06:38 pmSo my plans of seeing various Penn people this weekend all fell through. Some couldn't get out of work or doctor's appointments. Some are at Leaders. Some have full houses. And my parents won't let me drive to Philly.
So even if I'm not thrilled about this turn of events, I could deal with it...eventually.
However, my entire Shabbat may be in jeopardy.
I was waiting for a response from Andrea on Wednesday before calling the Yavners. They got back to me that night, but we didn't check the answering machine until this afternoon. And they're going to be out of town. So no go. I called the Raskins but no one has been home. I'm getting kind of nervous. Shabbat is tomorrow. I need a place to stay. I don't have the luxury of staying in my own house, because even if my family was Shomer Shabbas, which they're not, there's no Orthodox/ Conservative shul within walking distance. The closest is Providence. And I refuse to drive or be driven [even by a non-Jew] on Shabbat.
Of course, I could stay with my grand-parents, but that still wouldn't give me meals. And it would be lonely. And they would listen to the radio and stuff. I really don't wanna stay with my grand-parents.
At this point, I'm ready to throw in the towel. I'm gonna show up at either the Day School or Beth Shalom, and hope that someone takes me home. Otherwise, I'm going to sleep in the Shul. And yes. I am well aware that it is not tznius to do so.
