I love how when you enter something into your live joural, this box says "Event." So even if what I had was a quiz, or a poem, or a picture, live journal thinks that I'm writing an event. As it is, nothing eventful has been going on.

Ok, that's a lie.

Things have been eventfully good. Sunday night I started papercutting, which should be fun, though a bit expensive, but it's worth it. Last night and tonight I went out to Ben Yehuda for fooding. This time we hitched a ride with the bus going from Pardes to some event they were having in the Old City. The first semester people are being a bit cliquey, but I'm part of the clique, which is something unusual for me. I do try to branch out, but it's hard because there are so many people this semester, and we all form a bunch of little groups instead of functioning as one big pluralistic family.

I was having an interesting discussion tonight. Some non-Penn people think that Penn's Hillel doesn't have a good Orthodox community, and that there's a big divide between Conservative and Orthodox, like at Columbia and Brandeis. I don't feel that way at all. OCP and CJC were both accepting of me from the very beginning, despite my Reformness at the time, and I don't think that my friends changed from when I was Reform to when I became frum. And I think everyone that I know in OCP and CJC are nice. Josh from Brown says that maybe because I'm a nice person, I'm friends with the nice people, and because I'm outgoing, I can be in both communities. But I don't see myself as especially outgoing. I don't think I'm the exception to the rule.

Any thoughts, Penn people?
