Weird'd out

So Shabbat at the Yavner's was relaxing. I met a bunch of people.

Today I had the Frummy Wedding. It was Frummy.

At the end, my Dad was talking to this Rabbi Dude, and at the table there was this Old Guy.

Old Guy grabs my shomer hand, and is a bit hard of hearing. He asked me my name, where I was from, how old I was, whether I observed shabbat, and where I went to school.

He wanted to set me up with his Yeshiva Bochur grandson, even though I said I went to Upenn [none of these frummies would ever send their kids to a secular university that is *gasp* co-ed!] which I thought was a little off. I'm Modern Orthodox. They're Ultra-Orthodox. The kind of people that make Andrea and Brett look Reform.

He asked me for my name and number and address and stuff, but I'm not even going to be here as of tomorrow. I told him he could get it through the Raskins [since everyone knows everyone in their little community] but I'm sure when I get back he'll have found someone else.

What else could I have said? I mean it's not like I have a boyfriend, but at the same time, it's not like I'm looking to get married now and drop out of Penn.

And I like someone else. And I don't think I could deal with one of those relationships where the Bride and Groom meet 2 months before the wedding. I need to be with a guy who I'm friends with first. Who is used to me and my personality and all of its quirks, who wouldn't make me nervous when I find out he likes me [as in cases already discussed], and who doesn't mind my assur sense of humor [well not assur, but you know how I am...] Someone who I don't have to change for, either personalitywise or religiously.

I remember when I used to think OCP guys were too frum for me. Although I still have a lot of things to learn, I'm definitely frum enough for them now. But Providence Yeshiva boys are too frum for me.

I'm not that frum!!!!!!!!!
