A mostly good reaction

theyellowhobbitI must say, the worst part of getting something pierced is the anticipation. I was nervous all morning, and I took Allison along for moral support, and it didn't end up hurting for more than a second or two. Getting blood tested is much worse.
So I was quite giddy afterwards ["loopy" as I called it]. Avi Gross was on his way out of Penn, so I ran back to North to say goodbye, and then stuck around to see if people would notice and/or what they thought.
In order:
Allison: was there, thought it was awesome
Ari Levine: I had told him I was going to south street for mysterious purposes, and I had to sit right next to him for him to see it, but he thought it looked cool
Rachel Lowy: was with Ari in 403, she noticed from further away, and liked it.
Raphi Levy: Doesn't like nose piercings in general and thinks they are stupid. Of course, I pointed out that it's just like the rest of my hippie-liberal look, which he agreed with. Meh, I'm not out to impress Raphi.
Avi Gross: didn't notice it at first, but then when he was done talking to Ari Gilder he came up to the 4th floor, and then he noticed it and said it went with my whole "spiritual look." whatever that means...

nuqotw, Andrew, and Becky: All liked it. Becky used to have a nose ring, and she wishes she had known she could keep it in [she met a 30 year old frum woman whose style she likes who also has a nose ring.]
All the other grads around except Mark,groovin_reuven, and Daniella:If they noticed it, they liked it. They all must have thought I was on some serious drugs. Judah was wondering if he had just been oblivious before or if I had just gotten it today.
groovin_reuven: Also doesn't like nose piercings. Note that both negatives are right wing republicans.
The SNL meeting [Meira, Livia, Yoni, Shalhevet, and Isaac] Liked it.
Rabbi Seif: A convo:

R.S.: I won't zoom in, because then I could see your pores.
me: then you could see my nose ring.
R.S.: You don't have a nose ring.
Me: Yes I do.
Everyone else: Yes she does.
R.S.: [takes a closer look.] Whoa. Rachel, we need to have a talk about this. [then talks about how he convinced a girl to take out her belly-button ring.]
Though how untznius can it be if he wouldn't have noticed it had I not said anything?

Me:I like it. I can see it from the corner of my eye. It's shiny! I like shiny things. and if I just glance in the mirror, I can't see it. I have to get close up. It's pretty darn discreet.
