Summer Redux
Apr. 12th, 2005 08:03 pmSo I called my mom, who said that her and dad are fine with me doing Drisha, because it's actually less expensive than, say, taking summer classes at either Penn or Brandies. So if I don't get into Morasha, then Drisha it is.
In which case, Kressel, I might take you up on that really generous offer...Though if I stayed by you, there's no way I would not pay rent...That would be silly.
Now here's the Morasha situation, which is an interesting one indeed:
I talked to Anne Gordon, who said that if I found someone else who wanted to go, and be my chevruta, that would work. Because when you come to a summer program, and you learn in chevruta, you have to decide whether or not you want someone of a similar background, a lower background, or a higher background. And in theory, everyone there as of now may want someone with a similar background, though that may not necessarily be the case. A lot of people get a lot out of teaching others [I do, when I know what I'm doing...] and it's fun. But then there are the people who want to continually be challenged, and think the best way to do that is by having a chevruta who is better at learning, or knows more. That's how I usually am. So I would need to find someone not like me, who wants to be the teacher-person.
I'm going to ask around the OCP, and post to Weirdjews2, and see where that gets me. I need to figure this out before pesach. Which means I have yet another thing to do. Wonderful!
