Jan. 25th, 2005 01:37 amPlease read for your safety and comfort in the event the power goes off
tonight due to problems related to today's earlier malfunction.
1) The power may go off. This will not be an emergency in the sense of danger,
but rather may cause some discomfort. You have the option of either staying in
the building or going to any of the following locations, which are prepared to
receive residents for the night: Harrison Rooftop, Harnwell Rooftop, Irving
Auditorium, Houston Hall
2) Be prepared! Take out your flashlights and check the batteries. Save
frequently if you are working on your computer. You may want to set your wake-
up alarms through your watch or cell phone. Think ahead.
3) If the power goes off, the heat will also go off. Whether you stay at
Hamilton or leave, be sure to have warm clothes ready so you can be
comfortable.
4) If the power goes off, emergency lighting will illuminate the hallways,
stairs and lounges. Also, two of the elevators will be working.
5) Whether you stay or leave, if the power goes out and you are awake, please
first gather on your floor lounge or in the hallway on your floor and await
instructions from your RA or GA. They will be checking to see if you are
staying or leaving for the night.
6) In the event that the power goes off, you are asleep and generally
unaffected, there is not much for you to do. If you wake up and need
assistance, please call the front desk and find out the status of the power
outage. For emergencies, call 511. For information, call the front desk at
8-5254.
7) If you chose to go to any of the above overnight locations, there will be
vans and walking escorts available. If you need an escort or transportation,
go to the lobby and let the front desk person know. If for some reason the
front desk person is unsure of what to do, have the RA on duty paged.
8) If the power does go out, many of the Hamilton staff members will go to the
above mentioned locations and some will remain here. They will be point people
for information and assistance that you may need.
I think that the chance of the power going out is very small. This message is
just to give you information and guidance should we experience a problem.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation today.
yeah. I want to sleep in the rooftop lounge in south. I'm SURE there are absolutely no halachic issues with sleeping in a big room full of guys and girls. And would they have beds for us? would we sleep on the floor?
