Too much free time

Yesterday landofnowhere and I hung out, and I mentioned I needed to read Augustine's Confessions and landofnowhere said that EY had a copy I could probably borrow, and she borrows books from her on a regular basis so this would be nothing out of the ordinary. (Also, EY was off at social dancing.) So I decided it deserved a note (footnotes here were actual footnotes in the note):

Dear [EY],

We have forcibly extracted your Confessions¹. They will be returned to you as soon as we have gleaned the necessary information² from them.

Grand Inquisitors

¹As in the Confessions of St. Augustine, of which you have a copy. We would call, but we didn't want to bother you and interrupt your social class.
²i.e. reading for class.

(I made some letters big and tried to approximate some sort of Renaissance writing style, though I failed miserably.)

I debated for a bit whether or not to leave the note, because I wasn't sure whether or not she'd appreciate it, and ended up giving it to her when she returned, and she was sufficiently amused.

This reminds me of the ransom note GM and I left for Monge last year. I need to do something like that again at some point, though I'm not close enough with any of the professors here to do so.

Also, I should probably read those confessions. I've started and haven't gotten very far, being distracted by life.

And I'm considering skipping Buffy tonight, for reasons of Passover among other things.

Yay for Augustine! Though I prefer Anselm, Augustine is a close second. Also, do you pronounce it "August-in" or "August-teen"?
