I suck at waking up on Thursdays

Usually I'm the kind of person who can hear her alarm clock and wake up. However, last Thursday I was supposed to wake up at 6:45 for minyan and woke up at 1:15. Today I was supposed to get up at 6:45 for minyan and woke up at 11:35. And I set 2 alarms this time! How could I miss it?

The answer is that both last Wednesday night and last night I took painkillers before going to bed because I was in pain. Painkillers + the medicine I normally take at night = sleeping in accidentally. Therefore tonight I will set 4 alarms and not take any painkillers in order that I can wake up at 4 to be out the door by 4:40 and make the 5:01 green line which transfers to the red line and gets in to South Station at 5:37. The Amtrak train to NY is at 6:05. I'm not taking any chances. I'm also showering tonight instead of tomorrow morning, packing now, and putting out my clothes for tomorrow.

Hopefully this will be enough to get me up. If anyone is massochistic enough to be up this early and would like to give me a wake up call, let me know.

Sometimes I hide my alarm clock in a drawer. It's easy to reach out and silence the thing with regaining consciousness if it's right there, but if I have to go on an epic quest to hunt it down...there is wakefulness.

I use my cell phone as an alarm and put it on the bookshelf across the room. Don't need to see it to know the time and I have to climb out of bed to get to it.

I did use my cell phone as my second alarm, and I would have had to get up to turn it off had I heard it. But I didn't hear it all, so thus it did not work.

If my alarm were hidden in a drawer I'd be even less likely to hear it go off...
