So in a recent discussion I figured out that the majority of the papers I've been writing in the past year or so have been about sex, or at least have mentioned sex in them. The thesis was about miqva'ot and purity, and part of that pertained to sexual purity and thus sex. The Jewish Studies paper was about alternative miqvah usage, and also had a lot to do with sex.

This year's statistics:

Jewish History:
Paper 1: 8ish pages, not counting figures. About Qumran. They used miqva'ot a lot. They may or may not have allowed women. They may or may not have been having sex. If not sex, definitely about sects.
Paper 2: Stone vessels. No sex yet, though I'm not done with the paper. Also has sects.

Paul's letters:
Scholarly reflection paper 1: 2 pages. About Paul and Judiasm. No sex
Scholarly reflection paper 2: 2 pages. About Roman Imperial cult. No sex
Midterm: Q1: 2 pages. About Paul setting an example for the Corinthians. Minimal sex.
Q2: 3 pages. About slaves and sex.
Big paper: 8 pages. Wrote Corinthians 1A. Totally about sex.
Scholarly reflection paper 3: About the ways to interpret Paul in historical context and stuff. No sex.

History and Historiography:

Idrimi paper: About Idrimi. Not about sex.
Giant paper of Doom: Not about sex, and there will be no sex in it. Tons of violence, though.

So if we do a page count, there definitely is an overwhelming majority of sex papers. But this paper isn't getting any, (perhaps because I'm not getting any, but more likely because it would be completely off topic). Considering my perpetual lack of relationships, it's amusing that my papers usually end up being about sex.

Snert! Your papers need to get some, they have a one tracked...do papers have minds?

I think you wrote more about sex than me, including my gender and psych class.

Speaking of sex, the comments section in my latest post is getting absurd.

Yeah. I used a q in my thesis since it sounded more academic.

Speaking of sex, your mom was getting absurd last night!

How did you not comment on "cut a whole in the box"? Aren't you merciless?

And that's what you get for posting that meme.

Shouldn't that be "cut a hole"? *grins* Cutting a whole- now that would be a really Nifty trick.

I quoted verbatim. Which is why I'm surprised [livejournal.com profile] levana_b didn't comment on it.

q referrs to a qoof (so if it's spelled with a kaf, you should be using a k and using the correct transliteration would make you sound more academic). Sry... Arabic dork who gets annoyed at bad transliterations b/c the sounds in Arabic are actually different.

(er, maybe that's why?)

You should find a way to exploit your papers in the interest of actually acquiring someone to have sex with (at a later stage). Maybe... *scratches head* make a website, put your papers on them and link to the site on your online dating profiles ;]

Miqvah is spelled מקוה

Ha! If anything, my papers would scare guys away. It's not like they're about sex in a fun way. It's more about who can have sex with whom, or who can or cannot be a member of a given community based on their sexual practices. Etc. I think sex is just a very interesting topic when it relates to purity, and I gravitate towards essays where I can talk about purity beliefs and practices.

Well, you'd obviously need the right kinds of guys, ie. those who find scholarly papers about sex sexy. (I for one do, but I'm still female and heterosexual.) And you want to marry such a one, right? ;]
