I handed in my paper today. (I totally left the title as it was, and Prof. Cohen thought it was a cute title. 2 points for me!) Unfortunately, the room where Cohen's and Machinist's classes are [same room for both] is one of those rooms that is always hot. It's getting to the point where normal people wouldn't open the window since it's cold out, but I wish we had opened it today. I found it hard to stay awake, even though the material was interesting. Lack of sleep + room that is hot is a very bad combination.

I went to the post office today and finally mailed out all of my charity items. Whenever I mail things I feel like I've really accomplished something. I have more space now, since I had a lot of knitted things lying around waiting to go to good homes. And I like thinking about how exciting it will be when the people open up my boxes and get shiny things.

2 of the boxes are going to people from [livejournal.com profile] 3000in2007 who will deliver them to the appropriate charities.

Then I also had a smaller parcel which is going to a specific individual who might be a Live Journal person and who has no clue that she or he is getting a package from me. I'm proud of what I knitted. It came out quite well and I used a really nice yarn that had been in my stash looking for a good project. After the person receives their package I can post a picture, but not until then.

And I still have another 2 hours before I'm off to campus. Methinks it's Buffy time!

Is it in 201?

I have never ever managed to impress machinist on a paper. Also, he writes the most comments ever.

Yeah. 201 is the most annoying room ever. I need to remember to dress in layers so I can sit in class there without struggling to stay awake.

And does everybody just fail Machinist's classes then? Or does he realize that he's a really hard grader and then when he's calculating semester grades make up for the low paper grades and give us points for participating in class?

When I handed in that paper I realized there was no way it was going to impress him. Ideally I would have written the paper a week in advance and had time to edit it, but alas, life got in the way and I finished it 2 minutes before it was due.

Though even then I don't know what would have happened had I adequate time to edit the paper. I often feel like I'm not smart enough to be in this class, and everyone else knows a lot more about the ancient near east than I do (even though I majored in Jewish studies and anthropology at Penn!) But maybe they'll also get low grades and I won't be the only one who failed to impress him.

Well, I never failed, but I don't think I ever managed to crack that B+ barrier into the A range. I might have gotten an A-, but...
He just writes tons and tons of comments that make you think/realize that no matter what topic your paper was on, he could have written a better one off the top of his head.

Even going in to 201 makes my blood pressure rise.
I had to teach a discussion section in it once, though, and that helped me master it a little bit.
