groovin_reuven's was quite fun. I'll abbreviate all the names today.
I got to their house around 6:30 on Monday afternoon, with chag starting around 7. We were setting up for the seder, and Mrs. G pulls out this giant horseradish (maror) which quite frankly was shaped like a giant phallus. I wasn't going to say anything, but then CG made the comparison. And then Mr. G started making comments.
Of course, it wouldn't stand up, so they said we needed to give it some viagra.
And then when we were cutting the maror, there was the obvious comparison to a brit milah, ie circumcision.
And then we didn't want the rest of it to dry out after the seder, so it needed protection. (we put the whole thing in a ziplock bag.)
And we brought the maror along to the 2nd seder at the D's house. More comments ensued.
I got a lot of sleep. Which was good, because I needed it. I also read a lot, and I played scrabble with CG and MG, and won. (183 to 170ish to 160ish). I didn't expect to win, since sometimes I'm good and sometimes I'm not. But apparently the scrabble dictionary has some pretty weird words, like "rehat" and "rejacket" since "hat" and "jacket" are verbs and not nouns. (WTF?)
There was also a shiur with a bunch of intellectual biblical criticism and stuff, and I got to see L B-S, a well-known archaeologist who was at Dor, and lives in the area, and I hadn't seen in a while.
Finally, (not in chronological order) at the D's seder there were a bunch of Penn people, and we sang the Penn Chad Gadya, and I actually was the one who sang the verses. And a few people asked me if I was in an acapella group or performed in concerts and said that I had a great voice. But it's chad gadya, and it's in my alto range, so it wasn't like it was very musically strenuous.
Now I'm in work mode. I just made up the Exam of Death, and in 2 hours I have Death class (which I narrowly escaped on Tuesday!) I also have to edit the thesis, and Ben made a billion corrections.
