Shabbat at [livejournal.com profile] moss_raven's was just what I needed. Both meals were community meals (which were kind of expensive, since I'm a non-member. I wish they had a lower price for students but oh well) and Friday night's tu b'shvat seder was fleishig! There was a lot of good fruit, and the only thing that I didn't like was having to wait forever to eat. And Friday night services were dead.

And a convo between me and [livejournal.com profile] kellev:

[livejournal.com profile] kellev:You know what's weird?
Me: Your mom?
[At this point [livejournal.com profile] moss_raven and I burst out laughing, and [livejournal.com profile] kellev just looks at us for a while...]

Saturday I woke up at 8:45 and learned my leining for mincha. So we got to DC minyan around 10:30ish, towards the end of leining. And then there was lunch. And I ran into Bentzy, who I guess goes there, and Marc Katz, who was on his way to the gym! I haven't seen him in years! It was really random.

We had a little bit of time after lunch to chill, so I practiced leining more, and [livejournal.com profile] moss_raven napped.

Then we had the women's kryiah at kesher. It was fun. And there were 2 divrei torah since the person who was supposed to give it was late, so Rebbetzin F. did one on the fly, and the original person got there in the middle and then gave hers. And we were still early to seudah shlisheet. And I did pretty well on my leining. Though the columns were different from what was in the tikkun, so that was a bit distracting. But oh well.

On saturday night we went to this grocery store which had a lot of kosher food, and I picked up so kosher brie. And frozen pizza. So we had frozen pizza for dinner and ended up chilling out and going to bed early, since I had to wake up at 6:30 and [livejournal.com profile] moss_raven had to wake up soon after that.

And now I'm back.

Some mentionables in the e-mails:

I got an "above average" on my first GIS assignment, which is what the majority of people got. But the first assignment is only counted in terms of whether or not you did it. But it's good to know that I'll be able to manage the class, I think.

Apparently you can't send mail from Israel to America and address it to Rachel "The Yellow Hobbit" Adler. Alas.

They e-mailed me a confirmation that my Harvard application is in. Huzzah!

JitW registration is opening today. Not that I'm going. But for everyone who can, it'll be a good thing. And [livejournal.com profile] desh is Car-Czaring, so I think that's pretty awesome of him. Car Czar is like the hardest job ever.

And now I have to attempt to get some Jewish studies stuff done this afternoon (after I finish eating) so I can have something to talk to David Stern about tomorrow.

And Ben being away in Mexico means a much freer schedule on my part, since I have no thesis/Bronze Age meetings until he returns. Yay for a free monday!
