theyellowhobbitIf funding is shiny, in theory I have a dig in which I can have my room and board provided for. The only problem is that they dig from May 26th-June 22nd. Graduation ends on May 14th, so I'd have just enough time to get my stuff together for Israel. Admittedly, I'm much better prepared this time, knowing what the archaeology is like. And I wouldn't need any books for fieldschool (not that we ever used them). There are 2 other problems:
-Shavuot is May 23-24th [well starting on the night of the 22nd. I suppose it would end on the 23rd if I were in Israel]
-May 26th is a Saturday
So that leaves me 2 questions:
1. Do they indeed dig on Saturdays? (And if so, would they be ok with my shomer shabbasness, considering this is a small staff of 17ish?)
2. Where would I stay for Shavuot? I think I'd need to be in Israel, since otherwise I wouldn't have enough time to get to the dig by that Sunday.
Maybe the 26th is a typo. This is Israel. There must be at least some people on the dig for which this would matter, right?
