Dor and Shabbat
Jul. 9th, 2006 08:46 pmSo an update is long overdue. Sorry about that.
Dor:
Dor was a lot of fun in the end. The site is beautiful, and I got used to the early wakeup. I did a lot of work with the trowl, and I made 2 special finds- a mosaic and a sheep bone with cut marks on it. Both got their own tag and an elevation taken from where I found it. I felt pretty special.
And I made a lot of friends, who I gave my contact info so hopefully I'll stay in touch with them, if they remember me when they get back into the land of internet...
Shabbat:
Shabbat was great. I stayed at A.G.'s (female as oppsed to the two males I know with those initials) shoebox apartment. Friday night I went to Yedidya for services, and met
boroparkpyro there and we went to his friend K.'s house since he as doing the hosting for that week. To backtrack, services were amazing though there weren't so many women there and most were either young girls or married women. But there was singing, but there weren't tons of "lai lais" at the end, so it went relatively quickly.
Dinner at K.'s house was great. There was tons of amazing food. I felt a little embarrassed, here I was coming from a dig. I had showered, but there was still archaeological dirt under my fingernails that couldn't be removed no matter how hard I tried. It's still there. And I had skipped lunch in order to leave on time, so I was starving by the time we ate, so I ate a lot of food really quickly. (
boroparkpyro- was I as bad as I think I was?) Normally it's not such a big deal- I have pretty good manners and don't have to think. But I definitely was not at 100% that night. Oh well. Maybe no one noticed. Or it's part of my rugged archaeologicqal charm :)
Ok. I'm really really crashing, so I'll have to do another update continuing Shabbat and tellying y'all about today, which was traumatizing to say the least. Goodnight!
