Update on the Honey Situation
Sep. 30th, 2007 11:24 amWhen I posted my recipe for my Tea of Awesomeness, it was not because I'm actually drinking tea like this. Rather, I've been consuming enough honey that I might as well have been drinking tea like this.
Since Rosh Hashana I have gone through:
-2/3 of a 12ish oz. container that was in the cupboard before I moved in.
-A good portion of this probably 16 oz jar of honey which was used for our meals to put on the challah. We went through half or so at the meals and I went through the other half. It was a really cool jar in that it had a honeycomb in it. Yet it was hekshered.
-A giant40 32 oz. container that was purchased by me, so I don't feel guilty about it. I doubt that
currentlee and
adlight had much to do with its consumption, if anything at all. This one lasted about a week.
-About 1/3 of a 12 oz. leftover container from a potluck dinner which I had contributed (along with an identical container, though that one I didn't get to keep). Since it might have been contaminated with gluten from touching the challah at the meal, I was asked to consume it before consuming the rest of my honey. It lasted me a day at most.
-An 8 oz. container that I had bought on Tuesday, knowing I was going to run out soon.
It's not that I make my tea with 1/2 or 1/3 of the cup filled with honey. I use a rather reasonable amount (at least in my own definition of reasonable.)
Luckily, I bought another 8 oz container when I bought the40 32 oz. one, so I could keep it in my backpack if the opportunity to make tea arose while I was on campus. It hasn't happened yet, so I had the full container. It might last the rest of the day, in theory.
Is this not ridiculous? I'm surprised I haven't been attacked by hoards of bees. And I'm still coughing.
I have most of my voice back, though, and I did a decent job on Kohelet yesterday, despite not having tea since we don't have an urn yet. I need an urn. Though a lack of one will curtail the amount of honey I consume. But only slightly.
And my coughing seems to be bothering Prawn Salad. She's sleeping on the desk, and whenever I cough she meows. It's really cute. Too bad she'd claw off my hand if I tried to pet her.
P.S. if you think I'm exaggerating, just ask
currentlee or
adlight. They'll vouch for the fact that I actually have gone through this much honey in this short a period of time.
Edit: I should note that this is the weight of the honey and not the volume. Unfortunately I think they don't list volume. It's still a fair amount of honey.
