Date: 2005-12-12 04:56 pm (UTC)I think I should encourage people to get married, and then they can commission me to make the kippot.
want to marry someone? I could find you a nice Jewish girl at Penn...

Date: 2005-12-13 03:50 am (UTC)Did you make the pattern yourself, or did you find it somewhere? I also make kippot, and I'm always looking for more interesting patterns. Getting thread is a bit of an issue here, though . . .
BTW, very, very brave of you to do for a wedding. But it's such a nice thing. My cousin did it for her own wedding - mad, I tell you!

Date: 2005-12-13 07:29 am (UTC)I sometimes make my own, if I can't find a good one. For example, I made my own pattern for a border with the city of Jerusalem on it. It ended up being crazy, with 5 colors in it, but it came out quite nicely.
I don't really think of it as bravery. Originally Dassi wanted to make the kippot for her wedding, and I told her she was insane, since there was no way she could have the time for it. Unlike me, she doesn't crochet in classes. So I volunteered to do them, as my wedding present to her and Raphi.
She is still making Raphi's, which is the same pattern with blue instead of pink.
There were actually 9 kippot in the wedding party. Dassi's mom made one, as well as the insides of the ones I made, and Raphi's sister is supposed to make two, though apparently she wanted to find someone else to do it. I actually still have 2 weeks before the wedding, so if I wanted to be really insane, I could do one fo those as well.
If you have friends going to Israel, tell them to get thread for you. That's how I usually do it.
