My mom Imed me last night, and said that I should start thinking about what I want for channukah [meanwhile channukah is at the end of december this year, so over 2 months away]

My parents usually give me a present somewhere in the range of 100-200$ though sometimes it's more [like the digital camera, which is still broken and i really want it fixed].

I'm not sure what I want. Possible things are:

Cuisinart- potato kugelness! yay! no more schlepping to 403!
Ipod- for great gymming. not that it's necessary, but it would make the gym more fun.
100-200$ worth of yarn
money to keep for spendingness in the future
clothing, though there's nowhere around here to shop. I need to get to get to israel!!!
A DVD set of some show. Maybe a short anime series. Maybe Dr. Quinn. Maybe the first season of The Amazing Race. [Though Avidan has that...] I dunno. Something fun.
Judaica stuff- could be books, specificallly a nice set of machzorim. though usually to this, my parents say that i can just have it and it doesn't have to be my channukah present. but i think a set of machzorim would be kinda expensive. plus i want to see what that artscroll women's siddur is all about. Ariela? can I see yours sometime?

that was 87.99 for the set. there were ones on the site that were listed as 170.00 and were "on sale" for 130.00 why would anyone spend that much money for leather covers?!?!

The women's siddur is 23.99. so together it would be 111.00, which would be fine. maybe i could do without the woman's siddur.

And what other judaica do I need? I could use a set of mishnayot with kehati in hebrew. or hebrew/english, though that could get really expensive.

Or maybe 100$ worth of deli meat. everyone would love that.

I can't make a poll, so you all should just post and tell me what you think.

If you are looking at an ipod, go for one of the new Nanos. They're flash based, which means no moving parts- which is nice if you're doing any jogging, exercycling, or elipticaling. A regular ipod might hypothetically do ok otherwise, but still better safe than sorry.

As for the other stuff...A cuisinart is probably a good thing to have in general, but it's up to you if it's worth it for what you're doing.

*Note- we found a mistake in the womens' artscroll the other night. *Gasp*

Instructions for motzei shabbos with a chag coming up that week. Above Vi'hi Noam, it tells you that on Saturday night, Hatzi Kaddish should be recited and then you should continue below. It then says that if there is a chag the following week you should recite Kaddish Shalem and continue below, which you shouldn't.

And no one told me there was food in 408. Well, Elan did, but by then I was already making food.

my totally biased thoughts:
cuisanart: wait 'til you're in a permanent home
ipod: incredible, mine changed my life
yarn: will you use any of it for yourself? will that make a difference?
money: no fun there
clothing: israel rocks but other stores have hidden goodness usually, too
dvds: blah, but that's just me
machzorim: i feel like they're kinda silly since a regular siddur has all of it sans torah+ readings anyway, but that's just me
women's siddur: i've heard good things if you're into that thang, and i liked a bit of what i've read in them
kehati: i salivate at the thought
delimeat: vegetarians wouldn't love that!

good luck deciding!
