I went to Esther Anton's for Shabbat and Tisha b'av. Shabbat was quite fun, though it was horrible outside on Saturday, and instead of being good and taking a long Shabbat walk, I was lazy and stayed indoors all day. Though I did go gallavanting with Jon Moses on Friday night after having dinner at the Moses'.
The Antons have an adorable cat named Ginger, who doesn't like to be ignored. Both Friday and Saturday nights she came into my room and sat on my bed, and left after I stopped petting her so I could sleep. Apparently she also came into my room on Sunday while I was at shul.
Tisha B'Av services were long and painful [since we had to sit on the floor!] but that's the way they are meant to be. The fasting wasn't so bad, though I got really tired during the Rebbetzin's shiur and the video. I was a pretty dehydrated despite all of my drinking on Saturday, so I did allow myself a few sips of water. Not a lot. And it was spaced out.
On Monday afternoon, Jews could once again eat meat. I decided to celebrate by grilling burgers, and invited Reuven over. I had originally asked him to get rolls, but then I called him because Ilana showed me the leftover whole wheat rolls from Shabbat. We had tons, so we wanted to get rid of them.
Of course, when Reuven shows up, he brings his own leftover Shabbat rolls!!! We ended up using some of ours, too, since Reuven brought 4, and each of us[Reuven, Ilana, and I] had 2 burgers. The rolls are now in the freezer, though I figured the first person to come in who isn't us will receive a door prize...consisting of whole wheat rolls! Anyone want to visit me?
Since
There were only 2 previews before the movie. One was for the new Harry Potter movie. Which reminds me- what movie can I see that would have the "Serenity" trailer before it? **Edit- I found it on the website. Whee!
Which also reminds me that I should go yarn shopping some time in the near future so I can make myself a Jayne hat, and maybe a bunch more to sell when the movie comes out on September 30th. [And none of you people wanted a Jayne hat!
:-( ]
Gah! September 30th is on a Friday. Nooooooooooooooo! [maybe it comes out at midnight Thursday night/Friday morning.] I want my Serenity!!!!
So Jessica and her husband Ronen are on the slim-fast diet, even though neither of them needs to lose weight in my opinion. The powder that you put in milk has an O-U heksher, and according to Jessica it's good [but the shakes that come in cans are horrible.] So while I was Fresh-grocering today, I decided to buy some and try it myself.
Easier said than done.
So it would make sense for it either to be in the aisle with the other energy filled/diet foods or to be with the stuff you would put in Milk [ie Chocolate syrup and stuff] right? But it wasn't there. I went through the store, aisle by aisle, with no luck, until I looked at the end of one of the aisles, and there were the cans of slimfast, but no powder. And the cans, as far as I can tell, are not kosher. **Edit: They are Kosher.
So I'm convinced that Fresh-Grocer doesn't have it. Or they are hiding it from me. I didn't want to ask the people working there because 1. They are disgruntled, like everyone in Philadelphia [the city that spits on you] and 2. I'm self-conscious about these things. If I were comfortable with my weight I wouldn't mind asking [though then I wouldn't be trying to lose weight...stupid catch-22], but I feel like this would bring more attention to it. Kind of like how I feel uncomfortable eating ice-cream in public, because I think, "What if someone sees me walking by and thinks 'oh look at that girl eating ice-cream, she's already fat, so she shouldn't be eating it'" despite the fact that it was Tasty-d-lite, which has all of 40 calories. But I always got it in a cone, which sadly does not say Tasty-d-lite on it.
So anyways, I guess this is the new Fresh Grocer diet. Go in wanting to buy anything and walk around the store for an hour trying to find it, and then don't succeed. It's both dieting, and exercise!
**Edit: I ended up finding Slimfast at CVS, where Ilana suggested that I check. It actually tastes better than regular chocolate milk made with skim milk, and it's less calories. I think even when I'm thin, I'll still use this stuff!
Today I also managed to ride my bike for the first time in 2 years, while wearing a skirt. I stayed tznius, and I stayed alive [no falls, no injuries, Baruch Hashem.] It's really not as hard as I thought it would be. The only difficult part is getting off the bike, and getting it back up the stairs while carrying 3 bags of groceries.
I think I earned myself a break from the gym today, since I did all that biking and shopping and I'm tired and Ilana's friend might deliver the home-gym and I could always try that out.

Date: 2005-08-17 12:09 pm (UTC)Kol Ha Kavod on the weight loss and exercise plan! Really, you don't have that much to lose. I bet you could do it if you worked really hard in a couple of months. That's minor compared to many other people.

Date: 2005-08-17 12:26 pm (UTC)With discipline and exercise, you could do it. It's not like you're so overweight you'd need surgical intervention.
